The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has today announced Netflix as the main supporting partner for their flagship new talent scheme 'Breakthrough Brits', which showcases and supports the next generation of creative talent across film, games and television.

Netflix has entered into a multi-year first look deal with director, producer, and award winning actress, Regina King.  King's production company Royal Ties is entering into the first-look deal to produce films and series for Netflix.  Her sister, Reina King, will serve as head of production of the shingle.

Based on the critically acclaimed British production Dead Set, created by Charlie Brooker (Black Mirror), the series was adapted by International Emmy award-winning Brazilian director, screenwriter and executive producer Cláudio Torres with Conspiração's production.

Today SiriusXM and Netflix announced the launch of Netflix Is A Joke Radio, a full-time comedy channel to air exclusively on SiriusXM ch. 93. This is the first time the streaming company has worked in unison with another major subscription media company to create a new outlet for their content. The channel, which will feature highlights from top Netflix talent including Adam Sandler, Aziz Ansari, Bill Burr, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Ellen DeGeneres, Gabriel Iglesias, Jerry Seinfeld, John Mulaney, Ken Jeong, Ricky Gervais, Sarah Silverman, Sebastian Maniscalco, Trevor Noah, Wanda Sykes, and more, launches on April 15, 2019 on SiriusXM.

Netflix Enters Into Multi-Year Overall Deal with Kenny Ortega

Netflix today announced that it has entered into a multi-year overall deal with producer, director, and choreographer Kenny Ortega. Ortega is known for the High School Musical franchise, which earned him a Primetime Emmy and Directors Guild of America Award. Widely acclaimed for his genre-bending work in musicals, drama, comedy, and family programs, Ortega has directed and choreographed international hits including the Descendants trilogy, Newsies, and Hocus Pocus, and choreographed classic films including Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and Pretty in Pink, among others. Truman Alfaro will serve as Ortega's development executive.

Netflix concluded its inaugural content event in Asia, “See What's Next: Asia” with a celebration of the company's rapidly growing diverse content slate in India. Lewis Company, Netflix will develop classic stories from across the Narnia universe into series and films for its members worldwide. All series and films produced through the deal will be Netflix productions, with Mark Gordon of Entertainment One (eOne) alongside Douglas Gresham and Vincent Sieber serving as executive producers for series and as producers for features. In total the Narnia books have sold more than 100 million copies and been translated in more than 47 languages worldwide. The deal marks the first time that rights to the entire seven books of the Narnia universe have been held by the same company.
