Safaa Benson Effiom's debut play promises much for the future, with a script that balances drama with an important message

Seattle Rep is now presenting Sylvia Khoury's (Seattle Rep 20x30 commissioned playwright) Selling Kabul. Directed by Seattle's own Valerie Curtis-Newton (2019's Nina Simone: Four Women), Selling Kabul is a 2021 recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New Play Award and it's set to perform on the Leo K. stage through May 22, 2022.

Cast members include Almeria Campbell, Victoria Casillo, Daniela Delahuerta, Matthew Liu, Jesse Manocherian, Sarah Nandola, Pearl Rhein, Noah Ruebeck, Hansel Tan, and Miles Whittaker. Twenty-five performances will be staged from April 23 – May 22, 2022, at Nancy Manocherian's the cell theatre, 338 West 23rd Street, New York, NY 11201.

  Seattle Rep today announced a second round of its large-scale playwright commission project, 20x30: Reimagining the Anthropocene, in which the organization has commissioned three playwrights in an effort to plants seeds for the future of the industry.

The stage directors receiving the fellowships, assistantships and residencies of the 2022 Drama League Directors Project: NJ Agwuna, Jean Carlo Yunén Aróstegui, Jennifer Chang, Andrew Coopman, Justin Emeka, Nadia Guevara, Emily Hartford, Susanna Jaramillo, Ibi Owolabi, Logan Gabrielle Schulman, Noam Shapiro, Jessica Natalie Smith, and Kendra Ware.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced new dates for its upcoming production of Epiphany, a new play by Brian Watkins, directed by Tyne Rafaeli.  The play will now begin previews Thursday, May 26 and open on Thursday, June 23 at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street). 

Joining the previously announced David Harbour and Bill Pullman are Hanako Footman, Akiya Henry, Sinead Matthews, Charlie Oscar and Stephen Wight. Directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel, the production opens on 26 June at the Ambassadors Theatre, with previews from 15 June, and runs until 4 September.

Penguin Rep Theatre announced today the Off-Broadway premiere of Mr. Parker, a new play written by Michael McKeever and directed by Joe Brancato. Performances will begin Wednesday, June 1, 2022, for a limited engagement through June 25, 2022, at Theatre Row – Theatre 1 (410 West 42nd Street). Opening Night is Monday, June 6, 2022, at 7:00PM.

The Dramatists Guild of America has announced the first recipients of their 2022 Awards. The Awards for both 2021 and 2022 recipients will be presented at Joe's Pub on Monday, July 25, 2022.

MOSSO, the Musicians of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, have announced details of their upcoming summer concerts at Symphony Hall. MOSSO will celebrate the music of Stephen Sondheim and John Williams. These concerts mark the first time in almost twenty years that the musicians of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra have performed summer concerts in Springfield.

North Texas Performing Arts are pleased to announce the promotion of Kameron Knott to Program Director of the NTPA Collegiate Pursuits program. Kameron started working with NTPA in 2019 as a Choreographer and Assistant Director. He has also been working as an integral part of the Collegiate Pursuits production team since its inception last year.

The landmark Broadway stage play, Dead End, has been adapted as a musical and produced as a concept album available for digital download on May 1st 2022. Neil Fishman (Music), Harvey Edelman (Lyrics), and Peter C. Palame (Book), began this dream project years ago and after a saga worthy of a Broadway musical of its own, have brought it to fruition.
