Segerstrom Center for the Arts and the Los Angeles International Dance Festival (LAIDF) will present Ailey II - The Next Generation of Dance on April 11, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall as part of the festival's inaugural year. Ailey II, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's junior company that serves as a bridge between The Ailey School and the professional dance world, is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country's best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today's most promising emerging choreographers. The acclaimed 12-member ensemble makes its first appearance at the Center performing three works from the company's rich repertory including Road to One (2017) by Darrell Grand Moultrie, Where There Are Tongues (2018) by Ailey School alum and former Ailey II dancer Bradley Shelver as well as Breaking Point (2017) by Renee McDonald.

Set to the hits of the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley, this musical will have you dancing in your 'Blue Suede Shoes' all night long. Inspired by William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night, As You Like It, the music is all Elvis, and the result is a night of hilarious and enchanting 1950s fun. When Chad, the mysterious motorcycle-riding, hip-swiveling roustabout rides into town, suddenly everyone's lip-curling and all shook up with secrets, music, and love. Lovers meet, woo, pursue and more, all in one zany night that will change the town forever. You'll be rocking in your seat to great tunes like 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'Hound Dog', 'Devil in Disguise' and many more!

WP Theater, under the leadership of Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty and Managing Director Michael Sag, has announced the 2020 lineup for The Pipeline Festival, the third biennial showcase of its celebrated WP Lab residency for playwrights, directors and producers. Running from March 26 - April 25, 2020 at WP Theater (2162 Broadway, at 76th Street), the festival is the culmination of the renowned two-year WP Lab residency, providing a unique opportunity for audiences to see five new plays - in various stages of development, ranging from staged readings to full-length workshop productions - presented over a span of five weeks.

Art House Productions has announced two upcoming lectures made possible by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. On May 17 at 2:00pm, Ellen Gruber Garvey, PHD will lead Women on Wheels: How Women Found Freedom through Bicycling; and on May 31 at 11:00am, Sylvia Chan-Malik, PHD will lead Women, Feminism, and Islam. Lectures will be held in the Art House Gallery amidst a solo exhibit by artist Diana Schmertz. Admission to the lectures is free, but advance reservations are strongly encouraged as space is limited.

Maestro Iván Fischer led The Budapest Festival Orchestra in a thrilling all-Dvořák program at David Geffen Hall Sunday including an encore of Braham's Hungarian Dance No. 5. Maestro Fischer announced from his podium, “the arrangement includes some of the original folk melody', which was sung by the members of the Orchestra. It was a memorable performance punctuated by multiple standing ovations. Daisy Soros, chairman emeritus of the Friends of The Budapest Festival Orchestra, sat on an aisle in the front row.

The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) is proud to present the 2020 Overture Awards Finals Competition. The Overture Awards provides $4,000 to six area high school students for education and training expenses, with eighteen finalists each winning $1,000. The Fountain Theatre presents the world premiere of a timely new play, written and directed by Stephen Sachs (Arrival & Departure, Citizen: An American Lyric, Bakersfield Mist), about homelessness, celebrity worship and truth in American journalism. Human Interest Story opens at the Fountain on Feb. 15, where performances continue through April 5.
