PORGY AND BESS, ALL MY SONS, TWELFTH NIGHT & More Set for Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in 2014

Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, where the 2012 Shakespeare in the Park production of Into the Woods originated, has today announced a season of five productions for 2014. Opening the season on May 15 (running until June 7), Artistic Director Timothy Sheader will direct Arthur Miller's 20th Century classic play All My Sons. Harold Brighouse's Hobson's Choice will then run from June 15 (until July 12), directed by Nadia Fall, alongside a production of Twelfth Night re-imagined for everyone aged six and over. This production of Shakespeare's comedy for younger audiences will be directed by Max Webster and will also be supported by in-school workshops devised by the Young Shakespeare Company for years 3-6.

The National Tour of THE GERSHWINS' PORGY AND BESS, winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, will launch at San Francisco's Golden Gate Theatre this November. The tour, accompanied by a 23-piece orchestra, will begin performances Sunday, Nov. 10 with an official opening on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The Public Theater will continue its Public Forum season with PUBLIC FORUM SOLO: JOSEPH STIGLITZ ON THE RICH AND POOR on Monday, December 9 at 7:00 p.m. at Joe's Pub. This one-night-only event will feature a talk by Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz on income inequality and what the artistic community can do about it, followed by a conversation featuring Darryl McDaniels of Run-DMC, Artistic Director Oskar Eustis, and Public Works Director Lear deBessonet.

Casting has been announced for the national tour of 'The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess,' winner of the 2012 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival, which will open at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre on April 23 and play through June 1, 2014. Playwright/novelist/screenwriter/songwriter Suzan-Lori Parks has crafted an intriguing work with Topdog/Underdog, which is currently playing at The Gaslight Theater in a marvelously acted production by the St. Louis Actors' Studio. The theme for their seventh season is 'Sins of the Father', and as they have in the past, it's an eclectic and cool mix of older classic works, and newer plays. This current production is distinguished by a pair of exceptional performances which really make it worthy of your time and attention.

Another Production Company will produce a staged play reading of Suzan-Lori Parks 'Pulitzer Prize winning play Topdog/Underdog. The play tells the darkly comic fable of Lincoln and Booth, two brothers whose names were given to them as a joke, foretelling a lifetime of sibling rivalry and resentment. The brothers, who have been abandoned by their parents and fallen through the cracks of our social service system, are haunted by their past and forced to confront the shattering reality of their future.
