The album was conceived following Chris Turpin and Stephanie Jean discovering she was pregnant while on tour with Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams in San Francisco. They teamed with longtime collaborators Ethan Johns, who contributed drums on the album, and bassist Nick Pini (Laura Marling, Nick Mulvey), to record the album in just 7 days. 

TYPT, Talawa Theatre Company’s flagship free programme for emerging theatre makers, is back this summer.  The annual programme sees a team of 12 emerging artists, aged 18-25, work with established artists to create a brand-new show in just four weeks.  This year’s showcase will be 16th – 18th August at Talawa’s HQ at Fairfield Halls in Croydon. 

DPAC has announced that the Broadway smash hit musical AIN’T TOO PROUD – THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE TEMPTATIONS will return February 6-11, 2024, as part of WRAL’s Greatest Hits of Broadway.

Craft Recordings is celebrating the 30th anniversary of The Connells’ breakthrough album, Ring, with its first vinyl reissue and a bonus-filled CD. The group has also shared a previously unheard live acoustic version of “Running Mary” which is featured along with other recently discovered versions of tracks from Ring on this bonus-filled release.

Elisapie returns with “Qimmijuat (Wild Horses),” an adaptation of the classic Rolling Stones ballad translated into Inuktitut. this new single follows “Uummati Attanarsimat (Heart of Glass),” “Taimangalimaaq (Time After Time)” and “Isumagijunnaitaungituq (The Unforgiven),” which caught the attention of Rolling Stone and Metallica themselves.

¿Téo? (Mateo Arias) has announced the release of his album Luna. Drawing from a vast well that includes hip-hop, alternative, reggaetón and even Brazilian bossa nova, ¿Téo? has organically developed a unique, neo-American sound ever since the release of his 2017 debut single, “Uno Dos,” which featured longtime friend and collaborator Jaden Smith.

Gatlin announces her upcoming EP I Sleep Fine Now and shares her newest single 'Paris' and its accompanying music video. Produced by Konrad Snyder (Noah Kahan, Joy Oladokun) and Carrie Karpinen (Noah Kahan, The Regrettes), 'Paris' tells a tale of slow heartbreak against the backdrop of a celestial and faraway Paris.

 Singer/Songwriters Allison de Groot and Tatiana Hargreaves bring their powerful sophomore album, “Hurricane Clarice,” to the Passim stage on September 14. Produced by indie folk visionary Phil Cook, the duo’s energetic album features nine pieces, including two epic medleys (carefully selected from their archival deep dives) as well as a few transcendent instrumental originals.

George Street Playhouse presents THE PIANIST, a play with music, based on the memoir “The Pianist” by Wladyslaw Szpilman and directed and adapted for the stage by Emily Mann (Broadway: A Streetcar Named Desire, Having Our Say, Anna and the Tropics). THE PIANIST begins previews on September 26, with an official opening night set for September 29. The play runs through October 22.
