National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) held its annual Summer Benefit Concert on Monday, July 15, presenting Tony- and Academy Award-winning actor and Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish director Joel Grey with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work in film, television, and theatre; and honoring longtime supporters Mark and Audrey Mlotek.

This coming Monday, July 15, National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present its annual Summer Benefit Concert, presenting Tony- and Academy Award-winning actor Joel Grey, who directed NYTF's Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish, with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding work in film, television, and theatre. Yesterday, June 23, Mikhail Baryshinkov visited Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish. Following the curtain call, director Joel Grey came onstage to announce that Mikhail was in attendance.

The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene production of Fiddler on the Roof, in Yiddish with English Supertitles, will fill its theater with refugees in celebration and in honor of World Refugee Day on Thursday, June 20, 2019 for a 6:00 PM performance.

The penultimate award show leading up to the Tony Awards is the Drama Desk Awards. It is a celebration of both Broadway and Off Broadway theater. In addition to the standard performance prizes for acting, music, sets, writing, and costumes, there are other categories like, Fight Coordinating, Hair and Wigs, Projections, and more. I fortunately got a chance to work the Red Carpet and the Press Room. I love working the Drama Desk Awards, because I get the chance to meet some of the new voices that are making interesting and innovative theater.

In the past few weeks, we've watched the nominations roll in. Today the final crop of nominees have been revealed, all leading to next week's ultimate announcement- the 2019 Tony nominations.

Last night, May 30, Patti LuPone, Marc Shaiman, and Scott Wittman attended Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish at Stage 42. They came backstage after the show to take pictures with the cast and director, Joel Grey.

The 85th Annual Drama League Awards were handed out last night, May 17, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square (1535 Broadway).
