In a triumphant return to its roots and a bittersweet farewell to the DC theater community, Quotidian Theatre Company will stage Horton Foote's beautiful meditation The Day Emily Married at the Writer's Center in Bethesda, opening August 6, 2021.
The class of 2021 has arrived: Sundance Institute and Adobe announced this year's Sundance Ignite x Adobe Fellows today, chosen from a global pool of more than 1650 applicants from ages 18-25. Hailing from a broad geography, and rooted in a diverse array of creative disciplines from documentary to fiction, these 10 emerging artists selected will engage with a year of mentorship and support from Sundance Institute and Sundance Ignite founding partner Adobe.
The Fellowship centers artists in its curriculum, with a goal of supporting each fellow as they continue their respective artistic and professional development as filmmakers and storytellers.
Roald Dahl's children's classic, Matilda makes its way to the EPAC stage. The show is full of humor, energy, and a tribute to the underdogs of the world. Carly Geiter plays the eponymous character with spunk and joy. I was very impressed with how many songs and scenes she had to carry on her own. Each one reflected a great deal of confidence and stage presence.

One of the last shows of this season was The Quest, by Cédric Eeckhout. A unique take on the history of the European Union and the concepts of family and togetherness, from the eyes of an artist that finds great similarities between his own life and some of the most important dates of the European project. The performance featured Eeckhout himself, the main voice of the show, who resorted to a mix of story-telling and stand-up comedy to deliver a message of struggle and hope for the future of the EU and collective happiness. He was joined on stage by his mother and his cat, Jesus, who supported his delivery and joined him on several group numbers.
The song follows the news of Buckingham’s first solo album in over a decade which was announced alongside a run of fall North American tour dates, as well as “I Don’t Mind”, the album’s first single which was met with critical praise.
