The Shirley Jackson classic takes on new life in the Belmont's house of horrors

Just in time for Halloween...The Belmont Theatre will present the perfect Halloween entertainment with the thriller The Haunting of Hill House, by F. Andrew Leslie from the novel by Shirley Jackson, in the Grumbacher Studio October 18-20 & 24-27.

Company OnStage presents The Haunting of Hill House, story by Shirley Jackson, adapted by F. Andrew Leslie, directed by Laura Bellomy, and produced by special arrangement with Dramatist Play Service, Inc.

The Long Beach Playhouse opens its 2019 - 2020 season with The Haunting of Hill House. The play is adapted by F. Andrew Leslie from the novel written by Shirley Jackson in 1959. The story focuses on Dr. Montague (a paranormal researcher), an isolated and creepy old house with a bad reputation, a collection of his guests chosen for their susceptibility to the supernatural, a quirky relative of the mansion's owner and the strangely disquieting house staff. As the foreboding and creepiness grows we must ask the question, 'What can be done when the malevolent presence isn't in the house but is the house?'

Newnan Theatre Company kicks off the Halloween season with the classic haunted house story, The Haunting of Hill House, adapted by F. Andrew Leslie from the book by Shirley Jackson. The show opens on Thursday, September 19, in the NTC Blackbox.

In the 3 and half years they have been in operation, Some Theatre Company hasn't been afraid to choose the obscure, the angsty and the downright bloody! This season will be no exception. Producing 21 shows in 3 years, 20192020 has been designed around books and movies, (with the exception of Next to Normal which had to move dates and pushed it into this season rather than the tail end of 1819)

Cloudgate Theatre announces its sophomore production, the world premiere of Strange Heart Beating, a mystery about a small town that's thrown into turmoil when a young girl goes missing. Addie Gorlin (previously NNPN Producer-in-Residence, Mixed Blood Theatre) will helm the production, written by Cloudgate Artistic Director Kristin Idaszak. The full cast and creative team will be announced in early 2019.

Ira Levin's thriller might have been written for the Belmont's black box Studio Theater.

City Lit Theatre Artistic Director Terry McCabe has announced the cast for the company's season finale, the British comedy London Assurance. First produced in London in 1841 at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, and shortly thereafter in New York City, London Assurance is considered a transitional play between the 18th century comedies of Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Oliver Goldsmith and the late 19th Century plays of Oscar Wilde. It has been one of Great Britain's most popular comedies of the standard classical repertoire and in recent decades has been performed by some of Britain's leading actors.
