Just in time for Halloween...The Belmont Theatre will present the perfect Halloween entertainment with the thriller The Haunting of Hill House, by F. Andrew Leslie from the novel by Shirley Jackson, in the Grumbacher Studio October 18-20 & 24-27.

THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE Opens At The Long Beach Playhouse

The Long Beach Playhouse opens its 2019 - 2020 season with The Haunting of Hill House. The play is adapted by F. Andrew Leslie from the novel written by Shirley Jackson in 1959. The story focuses on Dr. Montague (a paranormal researcher), an isolated and creepy old house with a bad reputation, a collection of his guests chosen for their susceptibility to the supernatural, a quirky relative of the mansion's owner and the strangely disquieting house staff. As the foreboding and creepiness grows we must ask the question, 'What can be done when the malevolent presence isn't in the house but is the house?'

The Long Beach Playhouse opens its 2019 - 2020 season with The Haunting of Hill House. The play is adapted by F. Andrew Leslie from the novel written by Shirley Jackson in 1959. Dr. Montague invites his small team of volunteers to join his paranormal investigation of an unwelcoming mansion with a history of secrets and tragedies. As each guest is affected by the house's psychological manipulations, their minds, souls, and very lives become endangered.

Cloudgate Theatre Announces STRANGE HEART BEATING

Cloudgate Theatre announces its sophomore production, the world premiere of Strange Heart Beating, a mystery about a small town that's thrown into turmoil when a young girl goes missing. Addie Gorlin (previously NNPN Producer-in-Residence, Mixed Blood Theatre) will helm the production, written by Cloudgate Artistic Director Kristin Idaszak. The full cast and creative team will be announced in early 2019.

Margalit Fox wrote more than 1,400 obituaries during her career at The New York Times, gaining a legion of fans with her exquisite prose and eye for quirky detail. Now she applies her meticulous research and superb storytelling to a long-forgotten 20th-century murder case-and to Oscar Slater, the Jewish immigrant who was framed for the crime. ATCA Selects Steinberg New Play Award Finalists

After lengthy deliberation, the American Theatre Critics Association has selected six finalists for the Harold and Mimi Steinberg/American Theatre Critics Association New Play Award, recognizing playwrights for the best scripts that premiered professionally outside New York City during 2017.

Clubbed Thumb Announces Full Line-Up for 2018 SUMMERWORKS Festival

Five-time Obie Award-winning theater company Clubbed Thumb (Maria Striar, Producing Artistic Director; Michael Bulger, Associate Artistic Director) is proud to announce the line-up for SUMMERWORKS, its annual series of new plays. Now in its 23rd season, SUMMERWORKS will run May 19 through June 30 at The Wild Project (195 E 3rd Street) in Manhattan, and will feature productions of three new plays: TIN CAT SHOES by Trish Harnetiaux and directed by Knud Adams; WILDER GONE by Angela Hanks; and PLANO by Will Arbery and directed by Taylor Reynolds.

Lost and Found Productions Announces the World Premiere of BURNHAM'S DREAM: THE WHITE CITY

The story of visionary architect Daniel H. Burnham and Chicago's great World's Fair comes to life in Lost and Found Productions' world premiere musical BURNHAM'S DREAM: THE WHITE CITY, with book and lyrics by June Finfer, music and lyrics by Elizabeth Doyle, direction by Erik Wagner, music direction by Linda Madonia and choreography by Jessica Texidor. Celebrating the 125th anniversary of the 1893 World's Fair, this lively new musical will play June 1 - July 1, 2018 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Casting for Announced for LONDON ASSURANCE

City Lit Theatre Artistic Director Terry McCabe has announced the cast for the company's season finale, the British comedy London Assurance. First produced in London in 1841 at the Theatre Royal, Covent Garden, and shortly thereafter in New York City, London Assurance is considered a transitional play between the 18th century comedies of Richard Brinsley Sheridan and Oliver Goldsmith and the late 19th Century plays of Oscar Wilde. It has been one of Great Britain's most popular comedies of the standard classical repertoire and in recent decades has been performed by some of Britain's leading actors.
