I'm often a very positive person, being able to see the silver lining of every situation, and do not like to admit or submit to hardships in my life. But to be completely honest, 2016 has been a difficult year. As life can be tumultuous sometimes, it can also be magnificent. Alas, here we are, at the conclusion of our year, and I thought I'd do a little 'Year In Review' of my 2016.

Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents 'Broadway's Guilty Pleasures' on January 2nd, 2017 at 9:30 PM.

Musical Theatre educator and performer Sheri Sanders is teaming up with young trailblazer Christopher Castanho on a series of articles called 'Musical Theatre: The Wild Side' The pair will talk about 'tricky to discuss, but necessary' social topics through the lens of Student and Teacher in the Musical Theatre community.

Get ready to kick off your Monday nights with the sounds of some of the region's most popular musical theater stars, accompanied by a 17-piece big band orchestra. Philly's favorite musical theater star Jeff Coon is bringing his Summer Club to Manayunk's Venice Island Performing Arts Center for a series of swinging shows throughout 2017.

La MaMa in association with SuperYou FUNdation will present the pop/rock musical CHIX 6 by Lourds Lane (book, music, lyrics) for four performances only. Directed by Jackson Grace Gay, musical direction by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett and choreographed by JoAnn Hunter, will play this weekend, December 1- 4, 2016 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E 4th St).

Sheri Sanders is not only a trailblazing educator when employing pop/rock music in Musical Theatre, but she has also been surviving death-defying acts as the 'Company Cover' in the workshop of a new Broadway-bound musical 'Chix 6'. While Sanders is about to launch exciting things in January for her online training program 'Rock The Audition', she's been embodying a plethora of comic book superheroes by day.

Tony Award nominee and Grammy award winning Michael McElroy and the Broadway Inspirational Voices launches 'Broadway Our Way' , a video series celebrating some of Broadway's greatest tunes performed the BIV way,  August 1st on Youtube. The series will present Broadway songs performed in the Gospel style and will feature original arrangements by Michael McElroy and appearances by special guests.

Earlier this week,  La MaMa  hosted a 29-hour Equity reading of Chix 6, with Book/Music/Lyrics by Lourds Lane. The event featured direction by Jackson Grace Gay, music direction by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett, and assistant music direction by Julie McBride.

Broadway Sessions was thrilled to welcome Sheri Sanders' and friends on March 31 to celebrate the launch of RockthePerformance.com. Sanders, the world's premiere rock music coach, took a break from her demanding teaching schedule to party Broadway Sessions-style with some of her pals and students. After a killer opening number, Sanders invited students, turned Broadway stalwarts, Joey Taranto (Rock of Ages, Spider-Man, Kinky Boots), Hernando Umana (Kinky Boots) and Courtney Bassett (upcoming Natasha, Pierre...) to the stage to show the excited room just how it's done- Rock the Performance-style. Sessions also welcomed 'Rising Stars' Gaby Hornig, Sean Green and Toni Thompson. Check out these rocking performances below.

On episode 13 of 'The Set List' podcast, Rock Audition Guru Sheri Sanders sits down with Victor Legra to talk about her new online rock audition platform. RockThePerformance.com is the only site with sheet music customized and arranged specifically to sound fantastic on a piano for a rock audition or performance. The 1950s, 60s, 70s folk/rock, Disco, 80s, Contemporary Pop/Rock, Hip Hop, Country/Bluegrass and Faeries are all currently represented on this site! Additionally, you can become a member and receive exclusive access to instructional videos and performances.  Sheri demonstrates  'Barton Hollow' as cut and arranged perfectly for an audition live on The Set List.

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. This Thursday, March 31st, Broadway Sessions will celebrate the launch of Sheri Sanders' Rock the Performance with a night of music, live coaching, games and more.

Cast members from Les Miserables headed over to Broadway Sessions at the 'End of the Day', Thursday, March 24th. Before the cast took the stage, audience members got to channel their inner revolutionaries with an ALL LES MIZ open mic pre show. After which Julian R. Decker started the night off right with a stirring rendition of 'Memphis Lives in Me.' Matt Rosell and Melissa Mitchell dueted 'All The Wasted Time' from Parade before being egg'ed into an impromptu 'Tonight' from West Side Story. Joshua Morgan and Beth Kirkpatrick bared their souls in 20 questions and diving into their 'Where were you when Broadway called?' stories while Andrew Love brought the country, nailing Garth Brook's 'Baton Rouge' AND 'Friends in Low Places,' alongside host/country music fan Ben Cameron. Wardrobe staffer, Maggie Glass, delighted the audience with a duet of 'The Prayer' with cast member J. Michael Finley. The evening ended with gorge performance by up and comers Jennifer Brady (14 years old no less) and Mary Grace McGiveny. And what night at Broadway Sessions would be complete without a 'Shloppy' Plot Shynopsis' wherein the Les Miz cast members attempted to narrate the show's plot in under 3 minutes will downing shots... you know, sophisticated.

Then, she decided to give back! She started the Music Dance Theatre Workshop to help teenagers get on the right path to realize their own Broadway dreams.
