NEWSical The Musical Celebrates 2,000th Performance Tonight at Theatre Row

NEWSical The Musical, the 2011 winner of the Off-Broadway Alliance Award, is excited to celebrate its 2,000th performance tonight, November 2nd, at Theatre Row.

Now in its 5th smash year, NEWSical is New York's ever-evolving musical mockery of all the news that's fit to spoof. Tackling stories ranging from Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton to legalizing marijuana to Adele's new album - nothing and no one in the news is safe! The current company features Taylor Crousore (Forbidden Broadway) and Susan Mosher (Hairspray) as well as Christine Pedi (Talk Radio, Chicago) and Michael West (When Pigs Fly) who have been with NEWSical since opening night! Carly Sakolove (Mama Mia) and Scott Richard Foster fill out the company as understudies.

Over the past 2,000 performances NEWSical has had the privilege to welcome some fun celebrity guest stars to the show including Perez Hilton, Broadway's original Annie Andrea McArdle, Saturday Night Live's Cheri Oteri, Emmy Award winner Jackée, Real Houewives Kandi Burruss, and La Toya Jackson! NEWSical was featured on Jackson's reality TV show "Life with La Toya" on the OWN Network in 2014. Other performers to have been involved in NEWSical's core company over the years have included Christina Bianco, Amy Griffin, John West, Tommy Walker, Emily McNamara, Ryan Knowles, Leslie Kritzer, David Foley, Wade Dooley, Dylan Thompson, Meg Lanzarone, Sheri Sanders, and Kristen Mengelkoch.

NEWSical is produced by Tom D'Angora and was created by and written by Rick Crom (Urinetown) with direction by Mark Waldrop (When Pigs Fly, My Deah, Papermill Playhouse's Gypsy) and music direction by Ed Goldschneider, and is currently stage managed by Krystal Roccaro. It was named Best New Musical of 2011 by the Off Broadway Alliance.
