La MaMa in Association with SuperYou FUNdation Presents CHIX 6

La MaMa in association with SuperYou FUNdation will present the pop/rock musical CHIX 6 by Lourds Lane (book, music, lyrics) for four performances only. Directed by Jackson Grace Gay, musical direction by Wendy Bobbitt Cavett and choreographed by JoAnn Hunter, will play December 1- 4, 2016 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E 4th St). CHIX 6 is a modern pop/rock musical about a 25-year-old female comic book artist who learns to love herself and re-connect to her dreams when her own super heroine creations come to life.

The musical is by writer and composer, Lourds Lane, who is also the founder and creator of an educational arts and music based non-profit called the SuperYou FUNdation (www. superyoufun.org). The curriculum teaches thousands of youth worldwide how to connect to their most empowered superhero selves. Thanks to the SuperYou FUNdation partnership with the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (www.unesco.org), CHIX 6 fuses music, art, and technology to connect superheroes around the globe with the theater audience for a revolutionary theatrical experience that you won't soon forget.

CHIX 6 cast includes Brie Cassil, Kennedy Caughell (National Tour: Wicked, American Idiot), Nicolette Hart (Broadway: Million Dollar Quartet), Lourds Lane, Corey Mach (Broadway: Hands on a Hard Body, Godspell), Lindsay Moore (Papermill's Pump Boys and the Dinettes), Nick Palmquist (Regional: Legally Blonde), Mimi Rider (Broadway: Matilda), Josh Sassanella (Broadway: Rock of Ages, Spiderman - Turn Off the Dark), Sheri Sanders (National Tour: Urinetown, Fame), Molly Tynes (Broadway: Pippin) and Lavon Fisher Wilson (Broadway: Newsies). Creative team includes: Anna Louizos (Set Design), Kurt Alger (Costume Design), Ryan O'Gara (Lighting Design), Brian Ronan (Sound Design) and Nicholas Hussong (Video Projection).

Lourds Lane, a classically trained prodigy on violin and piano at age 3, Lourds toured with youth orchestras, playing in concert halls around the world. Upon graduating cum laude from Harvard as an English Major/writer, she toured North America with her rock band, LOURDS, and amassed a devoted fan base. While on the road, she continued working as a composer/producer, commissioned to create diverse styles of music to be used for global festival anthems, movie theme songs, background TV music, interstitial music, and commercials. Motivated by her commitment to empower young girls and spotlight inspirational female talent, Lourds founded and ran the largest female rock musician network in NYC, the Medusa Festival, for six years. As member of the National Speakers Association, she continues to empower audiences nationally through her keynote speeches. With her own iconic style of uplifting talk that fuses original music, violin playing, singing, and audience participation, she has spoken at global conferences -- including TEDWomen, TEDYouth, the Microsoft Global Women's Conference, the BlogHer convention, and the United Federation of Teachers Annual Conference. She is a children's book author and a director/writer/composer for "Sesame Street." She also had the distinct honor of being the opening and closing speaker/performer at the inaugural Forbes Women's Summit in 2013. Whether it be through writing, music, or speaking, Lourds' pervasive message sings out loud and proud -- "The Superhero is You." Her unwavering commitment to service, her deep-rooted passion to empower youth and women, and her amiable unconventionality, are the trifecta which constitute her own unique superhero-ness.
