Music Theatre - Kansas City Pro opens its new auditorium integrated inside the B&B 18 screen multiplex on Midland Drive in Shawnee. The show is 'A Wonderful Life - The Musical' with book and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick. Ironically, this musical adaption of the classic 1946 Christmas film with James Stewart and Donna Reed is brought to us by the same mind that delivered 'Fiddler on the Roof.'

The Muny announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for The Muny's 2018 centennial season, which opens on June 11 with the first production in the world of Jerome Robbins' Broadway since it's Tony - award winning Broadway and national tour productions.

Music Theatre Kansas City (MTKC) is well known around town for offering steady, top-quality musicals performed by the city's best youth talent. Last year, MTKC introduced its first paid-professional production with The Last Five Years and the start of the longtime local theater company's expansion into professional-level performances. This spring, they presented a sell-out production of Avenue Q as the Kansas City professional premiere.

Tony Award nominees Terrance Mann (Pippin) and Douglas Sills (War Paint, The Scarlet Pimpernel) will join some of Broadway's biggest and brightest names lighting the stage in the all-star gala concert event, Broadway: A Jewish American Legacy, which will be presented by the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 7pm in the Edmond J. Safra Theatre at the Museum of Jewish Heritage (36 Battery Place).

Tori Scott will return to Joe's Pub at The Public with her annual holiday show, Vodka is the Reason for the Season - an evening of holiday regret, slurred autobiographical stories, and brassy songs written by other people.

Ilyse Robbins leads a team of champions in Greater Boston Stage Company's SHE LOVES ME, a delightful musical for the holiday season - or any season, for that matter. Music Director Matthew Stern brings out the best in the Jerry Bock/Sheldon Harnick score with the voices of Jennifer Ellis, Sam Simahk, Aimee Doherty, and Jared Troilo at the front and center of a talented ensemble.

For the Fall 2017 semester, Theatre TCU produced a studio season made up of three successful productions. These included Tom Kellogg in B Flat, an original play written by Theatre TCU faculty Member T.J. Walsh, Sylvia by A.R. Gurney, and finally, the renowned classic Fiddler On the Roof (Book by Joseph Stein, Music by Jerry Bock, Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick) as the closing show of the semester. It is worth noting that Theatre TCU completely sold out all seven performances for Fiddler On the Roof within a matter of minutes, and when I attended the production it was clear why as soon as the opening number Tradition began. Theatre TCU has proven time and again that they are capable of producing professional, technically thorough productions bursting with youthful student talent.

George Bailey's story is a universal one, so much so that some 70 years after the film treatment of It's A Wonderful Life debuted, the tale of an upstanding citizen faced with failure and ruin, has become one of the most beloved holiday-season tales of all time. But the initial reaction of movie-goers to the film, although not nearly so dire as some cinema historians would have you believe, is considered one of the best-reviewed movies of all time.

Theatre is about pushing the boundaries of what's expected. In the Cultural Arts Playhouse's latest production of Fiddler on the Roof, director Eliana Kayelle has taken many risks in her telling of the Broadway classic.

Direct from a hugely successful Broadway revival, this sweeping romantic Tony-Award winning musical tells the story of Amalia (Jennifer Ellis) and Georg (Sam Simahk), co-workers in a department store, who fall in love without knowing it through anonymous lonely heart letters. Directed and Choreographed by Elliot Norton and IRNE Award-winner Ilyse Robbins, performances run November 24 December 23, 2017. The Press Opening is Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 8:00pm.

Actors David Sajewich, in the role of George Bailey, and Allison Sill in the role of his wife Mary, lead the cast of Theatre at the Center's A Wonderful Life: The Musical with James Harms as Mr. Potter, David Perkovich as Clarence, Jim Heatherly as Uncle Billy and Jason Richards as Mr. Martini. Broadway star Patrick Cassidy is making his Wick Theatre debut as Stephen Kodaly in She Loves Me, playing the role that won his father, Jack Cassidy, a Tony Award. He will be joined by Julie Kleiner, Matthew Kacergis and Lauren Weinberg in this this romantic musical comedy, which debuted on Broadway in 1963 and was revived in 2016.
