The Bret Adams and Paul Reisch Foundation present the 2019 Idea Awards for Theatre.

Music composer, pianist Michele Brourman is world reknowned for her brilliant compositions and collaborations with other great songwriters like Amanda McBroom. She has a tremendous passion for performing. She will be in Chicago on the 15th and in New York in October doing what she does best. The world is a better place because of it.

59E59 Theaters will present the NYC premiere of EINSTEIN'S DREAMS book and lyrics by Joanne Sydney Lessner, music and lyrics by Joshua Rosenblum, directed by Cara Reichel, and based on the novel by Alan Lightman. Milton Granger is the music director; the movement director/associate director is Dax Valdes.

Michele's best-loved song 'My Favorite Year,' has been recorded by the Ambassador of the American Songbook, Michael Feinstein as well as by Dame Cleo Laine, and the late singing icon, Margaret Whiting. With longtime collaborator Amanda McBroom, she has written the songs for 18 animated features for Universal Studios as well as the score for the musical 'Dangerous Beauty.'

Rubicon Theatre Company announces two performances of an intimate concert featuring Golden Globe Award-Winner and Grammy nominee Amanda McBroom, presented as part of the 2018-2019 Janet and Mark L. Goldenson Broadway Concert Series. Amanda McBroom, a Rubicon favorite both as a singer and actress, returns to Rubicon with a concert version of her hit play Lady Macbeth Sings the Blues on Saturday June 8 at 8p.m. and Sunday June 9 at 2 p.m.

Skylight Theatre Company (Producing Artistic Director, Gary Grossman and Co-Artistic Director Tony Abatemarco) announced today the world premiere of BRONCO BILLY - THE MUSICAL, It marks the organization's first world premiere musical production. The new musical, based on the Warner Bros. film Bronco Billy, features a book by Dennis Hackin, lyrics and music by Chip Rosenbloom and John Torres, with additional lyrics by Michele Brourman. Hunter Bird will direct. Preview performances begin on May 10, with the official press opening on Saturday, May 18, 2019. Sinnger/Actress, Liz Rubino, to Debut New Show, 'Spring This Year,' at New York's well known cabaret 'Don't Tell Mama' on Saturday, May 18th @ 7:00 p.m.

New York Theatre Barn announced it is honoring its co-founder, Sheilah Rae, with the company's first Lifetime Achievement Award.  The award recognizes her exceptional contributions to musical theatre as a writer, composer, lyricist and performer for over 50-years, and her co-founding and outstanding service and vision for New York Theatre Barn (NYTB) for more than a decade.  Joe Barros, artistic director of NYTB, and Rob Wyse, board president of NYTB, made the announcement at the February 4th New Works Series. Each noted her deep understanding of the journey from page to stage.

New York Theatre Barn's 12th season launched with its signature New Works Series on Monday, February 4th, 2019, at the Daryl Roth Theatre's D-Lounge (101 East 15th St., NYC) with pre-premieres of the new musicals Postcard American Town and Ramona.

The Detroit Repertory Theatre announces the world premiere production of The House on Poe Street by Fengar Gael, opening Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 8:30 pm. Opening Nights at the Detroit Repertory Theatre are always Champagne Celebrations. Patrons are invited to stay after the performance and enjoy a champagne afterglow with the playwright, composer, cast and crew.

The fifth season of New York Theatre Barn's Choreography Lab concludes on Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at 2pm at The Cell. Funded in part by a generous gift from the Amber Foundation, The Choreography Lab was created to elevate and expand the use of dance in musical theatre. It is also the only curated choreography platform where choreographers and writers collaborate to develop movement for new musicals during incubation. Director/Choreographer Shea Sullivan (R.R.R.E.D., Pageant!) will serve as the lab's guest moderator.

On September 24th, the newly formed Bret Adams & Paul Reisch Foundation honored Obie Award-winning Caught playwright Christopher Chen as the recipient of the inaugural Ollie Award. Flip through photos of the celebration at The Players Club below. 

NJ Rep presents a celebration of the works of Edna Ferber including salon readings of 5 brand new one-act plays adapted from Ferber's short stories, a lecture on the story behind Show Boat told by Ferber's great niece and biographer, Julie Gilbert, and a concert reading of Selina Peake written by the Pulitzer prize winning playwright, Horton Foote, based on the Pulitzer prize winning novel, So Big. All presentations will be at West End Arts Center, 132 West End Avenue in Long Branch. 

The World Premiere of Fengar Gael's The House on Poe Street opened on October 27th at the 14th Street Y Theatre. The production runs until November 12th and is produced by Yonder Window Theatre Company. Artistic Director Katie McHugh, directs, with original music composed by Sheilah Rae.

On June 13th at 6:00pm, The League of Professional Theatre Women (LPTW), a not-for-profit organization promoting visibility and increased opportunities for women in the field, will lead their 5th Annual Equality March through Times Square to advocate for equal representation and pay for women in theatre, Women Stage The World.

To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of New York State signing of woman's suffrage into law, three years before the US passed the 19th Amendment, Hangar Theatre, Kitchen Theatre Company, Civic Ensemble and Cherry Arts are collaborating on a two-night theater event: Four Plays - 100 Years. Performances will be at Kitchen Theatre Company on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 16 and 17 at 7:30pm.
