The Argyle Theatre and producer Hunter Arnold unofficially kicked off the holiday season early by announcing that a special filmed version of Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday classic A Christmas Carol starring one of the finest stage actors of our time, Tony Award winner Jefferson Mays, was released worldwide on Saturday, November 28.

Today, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) is giving the gift of complimentary tickets to their current production of A Christmas Carol: On Air—Charles Dickens's classic brought to life as a fantastical virtual immersive audio event—for frontline and essential workers, as well as artists and workers in the arts industry. Theater Resources Unlimited has announced their monthly panel Art and Activism: How Theater Can Open (and Change) Minds on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 6pm via Zoom. The Zoom session will open at 6pm for roundtable introductions of attendees, and the program will start at 6:30pm - come prepared with your best 20-second summary of who you are, and what you need.

The Suncoast Black Arts Collaborative, a new nonprofit organization that promotes using the unifying power of the arts to nurture inclusion and diversity across the regional arts and cultural landscape, has recently expanded its board to 15 directors. According to Michéle Des Verney Redwine, SBAC's president, her “dream team” has spent the past year building alliances with other area nonprofits.

The first-ever New Works Virtual Festival kicks off tonight! Every evening from December 5th - 25th of 2020 at 8PM EST/5PM PT, the New Works Virtual Festival will stream video readings of 20 new scripts of non-musical pieces (19 plays, 1 teleplay) as well as an 21st (a 'Christmas Special') featuring the work of a diverse group of writers and all-star cast members.

Los Angeles Opera has a number of excellent recitals on its website including one by baritone Craig Colclough in which he sings the Shakespeare monologues from Otello and Macbeth that Verdi set to music. Together with pianist Jeremy Frank, Colclough presents a program that also includes works by Beethoven, Wagner, Porter, and Vaughan Williams.
