Watch: SAG Foundation Remembers Omar Sharif with Career Retrospective

The Screen Actors Guild Foundation mourns the loss of multi-faceted and legendary actor Omar Sharif. To honor his life and extraordinary career, the SAG Foundation has digitized and released its 50-minute career retrospective with Sharif recorded in 2003. Conversations with Omar Sharif was moderated by Todd Amorde and taped before an audience of fellow union actors.

The Kennedy Center to Host 10th Annual MFA Playwrights' Workshop This Summer

The Kennedy Center, in association with the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, the National New Play Network (NNPN)-the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays-and with Stanford University's National Center for New Plays, will host more than 50 playwrights, directors, and dramaturgs from July 25 to August 2, 2015 as part of the 10th annual weeklong MFA Playwrights' Workshop featuring new works by MFA students from Columbia University, Northwestern University, Fordham University, Yale School of Drama, the Juilliard School, New York University-Tisch School of the Arts, University of California-San Diego, and the Juilliard School.

PopUP Theatrics Extends BROKEN CITY: HARLEM

PopUP Theatrics new show, BROKEN CITY: Harlem recently sold out six performances at The Harlem Arts Festival. An extended run will take place between June 29th - July 11th in Harlem. BROKEN CITY: Harlem was conceived by PopUP Theatrics partners, Ana Margineanu, and Tamilla Woodard in collaboration with playwright Peca Stefan. This production highlights artists from the National Black Theatre, Liberation Theatre, HARLEM9, and Harlem Natives.

Sheridan Smith-Led FUNNY GIRL Heading to West End and Broadway?

As BroadwayWorld reported last week, Sheridan Smith has been in negotiations to star as 'Fanny Brice' in FUNNY GIRL at the Menier Chocolate Factory, directed by Michael Mayer. An official announcement has not been made, and according to the Daily Mail, the team is still working out if the show might transfer after its run in Southwark. Baz Bamigboye writes that the production could be heading to the West End, or even New York in the future.

American Idol, The Voice and RENT Star Frenchie Davis Joins the Star Studded ROAR

Broadway Sings for Pride will roar into their 5th year and celebrate New York City LGBT Pride with 'Roar', their fifth annual benefit concert, benefiting the Tyler Clementi Foundation. The one-night benefit, will feature songs that embody gay perseverance, marked by an array of musical performers from the world of Broadway, pop and beyond. The night will feature two special musical reunions from the companies of RENT and A Chorus Line.

Frenchie Davis Joins Broadway Sings for Pride's ROAR Concert Lineup

Broadway favorite Frenchie Davis (American Idol, The Voice, Broadway's RENT) will make her Broadway Sings for Pride debut in 'ROAR' which will celebrate NYC Gay Pride. Frenchie known for her powerful voice will be apart of group numbers and a solo piece during the event. Frenchie appeared on American Idol's second season where she showcased her soulful voice. She made her Broadway debut in RENT as the 'Seasons of Love' soloist in the Tony-award winning show RENT. She was also seen in the starring role of Effie in a West Coast-touring production of Dreamgirls, which appeared in Sacramento, San Jose, Seattle. Davis also made it to the top 8 of The Voice as a member of Christina Aguilera's team.

Sheridan Smith in Talks to Lead FUNNY GIRL at Menier Chocolate Factory

According to the Daily Mail, Sheridan Smith is in negotiations to star as 'Fanny Brice' in FUNNY GIRL at the Menier Chocolate Factory in Southwark. She met with director Michael Mayer today. No word yet on the final decision, but it seems if Smith is out, the musical will go back in storage for now.

The new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, recorded its cast album on Thursday, May 28th. Authors include composer Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyricists Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (the two multi-platinum Sunset Boulevard hits) and book writer Michael Weller (screenwriter for Hair and Ragtime). The musical officially opened at the Broadway Theatre last night, April 21, 2015, and BroadwayWorld'S Richard Ridge was on the red carpet before the curtain went up, and below, you can check out interviews with Nikki M.
