globalFEST Announces 2015 Artist Line-Up

Cross-cultural hybridization has gone deeper. So exclaims the line up for the 2015 edition of globalFEST (globalfest.org), North America's premiere international music springboard.

Joe's Pub to Celebrate Creative Capital's 15th Anniversary, 11/24-26

?Joe's Pub at The Public joins Creative Capital's15th anniversary celebration with a slate of performances by some of New York's most adventurous and exciting artists – Lisa Kron, Danny Hoch, Kalup Linzy, Jomama Jones & Samora Pinderhughes, and Champagne Jerry. Running Monday – Wednesday, November 24-26, the program of shows exemplifies the shared goal of both organizations to support innovative artists making inter-disciplinary work. Tickets ($15-20) are now available online, by phone (212-967-7555) and in person at The Public's Box Office (425 Lafayette, NYC).

The Public Theater presents the world premiere of Bridget Everett's ROCK BOTTOM at Joe's Pub, kickin goff the 2014-15 downtown season at Astor Place. Created by Bridget Everett, Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman, Adam 'Ad-Rock' Horovitz, and Matt Ray, and directed by Scott Wittman, ROCK BOTTOM was originally commissioned as part of the Joe's Pub 2013 New York Voices series. This shockingly funny and moving new show will run through Saturday, October 11 at Joe's Pub. BroadwayWorld brings you photos from opening night below!

Larry Krone to Display Work from LOOK BOOK at Joe's Pub, 9/2-25

As part of Joe's Pub at The Public's new artist-in-residence initiative, artist/entertainer Larry Krone will premiere a selection of photos from his forthcoming art book, LOOK BOOK. The book showcases the inspired creations of Larry Krone BRAND and the House of Larreon in photos by designer and photographer Todd Oldham. Running in conjunction with The Public Theater's 2014-15 season presentation of Bridget Everett's Rock Bottom, the exhibition will be on view from September 2-25 on The Public Theater's Philip and Janice Levin Foundation Mezzanine. There will be an opening night party today, September 2 at 5:30PM.

Benefit TRANS Formative - SONGS THAT PROPEL US Set to Play at Joe's Pub on 4/28

TRANS Formative - Songs That Propel Us: A Benefit for New York Voices, Joe's Pub's artist commissioning program, and the Ali Forney Center. An extravaganza featuring stars of the downtown scene will play at Joe's Pub at The Public, 425 Lafayette Street, on April 28. Show time is 9:30pm. Neil Patrick Harris, Lance Horne, Justin Vivian Bond & More Set for PS122 Spring Gala, 5/12

Chaired by Michael Stipe and Justin Vivian Bond, PS122's Spring 2014 Gala will celebrate freedom of expression by honoring actor and performance artist John Fleck, performance artist and writer Holly Hughes, and performance artist Tim Miller-three of the four solo performers known collectively as the NEA 4. In addition, Clara Miller will receive the Shining Star Award, an award traditionally given to a non-artist who has greatly impacted the arts community of NYC. Miller founded the Nonprofit Finance Fund in 1980, which radically changed how non-profits think about their financial strategies.

Black Rock Coalition Orchestra to Kick Off Joe's Pub Residency on 4/8

The Black Rock Coalition (BRC) in association with Joe's Pub at The Public, presents the Black Rock Coalition Orchestra in residency at Joe's Pub. Under the creative supervision of BRC co-founder and Living Colour founder Vernon Reid, the BRC Orchestra will perform three shows throughout 2014, each celebrating Black rock pioneers and movements of the American pop canon. The first show is Santana Retrospective Redux, Volume 1, an exploration of the Grammy Award-winning guitar legend's expansive musical career, on Tuesday, April 8.

TRANS FORMATIVE - SONGS THAT PROPEL US Benefit Set for Joe's Pub, 3/24 & 4/28

Voice teacher and occasional producer, Barbara Maier Gustern and Downtown producer/performer Eric L. Schmalenberger present: TRANS Formative - Songs That Propel Us: A Benefit for New York Voices, Joe's Pub's artist commissioning program, and the Ali Forney Center. Two extravaganzas featuring stars of the downtown scene will play at Joe's Pub at The Public, 425 Lafayette Street, on March 24 and April 28. Show times are at 9:30pm.

Kix Brooks, Bob Dipiero, Tim Nichols & Jon Nite Set for CMA Songwriters Series at Joe's Pub, 2/11-12

The CMA Songwriters Series returns in its tenth year to the venue where it all began, Joe's Pub in New York City, with a two-night event on February 11 and 12. Celebrating its decade-long run, the CMA Songwriters Series features songwriter and host Bob DiPiero performing alongside Kix Brooks, Tim Nichols, and Jon Nite. A limited number of tickets are on sale now and show times for both nights are 7:00 and 9:30PM.

The Public Theater to Celebrate Toshi Reagon at Joe's Pub, 1/19-26

This month, the Public Theater will honor composer, musician and songwriter Toshi Reagon with five concerts at Joe's Pub and a special engagement during the Public's annual Under the Radar festival. Reagon will be joined by her band BIGLovely, featuring Judith Casselberry, Adam Widoff, Robert Burke, Fred Cash, Stephanie McKay and Marcelle Davies Lashley.

Joe's Pub at The Public Hosts Live Draw Concert for Visual Artists Tonight

As part of its ongoing 15th anniversary season celebrating the best in live music and performance nightly, Joe's Pub at The Public is hosting an open-call for visual artists to submit their sketchbook samples on Tumblr and receive an invitation to draw a live concert tonight, November 19, 7:00 PM featuring indie-rock band Balthrop, Alabama and EMEFE.

Nora York's WATER WATER EVERYWHERE Set for Joe's Pub Tonight

Joe's Pub at The Public will welcome conceptual artist, musician and educator Nora York in Water Water Everywhere / Nay Any Drop To Drink, a new work presented by Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, Ballroom Marfa and the Public Concern Foundation as part of the city-wideMarfa Dialogue NY symposium on climate change. This one-night-only performance takes place at Joe's Pub tonight, November 10 at 7:00 PM and is FREE and open to the public.
