In February 2018, Daniel Alexander Jones makes his debut in The Public Theater's mainstage season with his new show Black Light, starring Jones's alter ego, legendary singer Jomama Jones. Originally commissioned as part of the Joe's Pub New York Voices series, Black Light is a moving, music-laden work - a revival of sorts - for turbulent times. Created by Jones, the show features all original music by Jomama, Laura Jean Anderson, Bobby Halvorson, Dylan Meek and Josh Quat. The show's music direction is by Samora Abayomi Pinderhughes.

Falu's Bazaar is a new vibrant and diverse album of Indian children's music from New York based Falu, an international artist known for her unique blending of modern and classical stylings in her Bollywood Orchestra shows. This playful yet educational collection is the first of its kind, teaching South Asian culture through a spirited presentation to today's youth in three languages- English, Hindi and Gujarati (out this Friday, 2/16!)

Grammy-nominated funk rock pioneer Nona Hendryx continues her year at Joe's Pub at The Public as the inaugural recipient of The Vanguard Residency and Award, which celebrates an icon of American pop culture, with two new shows. On March 19, Hendryx has invited Liza Jessie Peterson to debut a new work called Down the Rabbit Hole, a mix of Peterson's acclaimed one-woman show The Peculiar Patriot and new book All Day.

The Orpheum Theatre Group is pleased to announce that President & CEO Brett Batterson has been named NAPAMA's (North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents) 2017 Presenter of the Year. The official awards presentation will take place at the Association of Performing Arts Professionals' (APAP) annual conference on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the New York Hilton Midtown. Batterson's award will be presented by NAPAMA president, David Wannen.

In 2018, Joe's Pub at The Public will launch The Vanguard Residency, a new award and yearlong monthly series that celebrates the work and influence of an icon of American popular culture but also responds to the music industry's diminishing revenue streams by offering a grant of $50,000. The inaugural recipient of this award is Grammy Award-nominated, art- and funk-rock pioneer Nona Hendryx, who is honored for her career as a performer, producer, writer, curator and mentor. Hendryx dedicates the series to fearlessness, revolution (creative and cultural), freedom of expression and innovation; the things that have defined her own career.

Today, hundreds of artists and activists will launch The Federation. Formed by Laurie Anderson, Laura Michalchyshyn, and Tanya Selvaratnam, The Federation is an unprecedented coalition of individuals and organizations that believe in the power of art and are committed to keeping cultural borders open. Joe's Pub at The Public partners, once again, with Philadelphia's renowned Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts for the Kimmel Center Theater Residency. Born in 1992 in San Francisco and retired in 2007 in New York City, the 'perverse' and 'transcendental' (The New York Times) septuagenarian lounge-singers will debut a new show entitled Seeking Asylum!, which will now run from April 21-May 22, 9:30PM, for a total of 21 performances.

Costume Designer Larry Krone's new book, 'Look Book' will be launched at 42West in New York City on Sunday November 15th from 7 pm to 10 pm and the public is invited.
