Since 1984 the performing-arts series has championed new works and offered audiences unprecedented access to leading creators and performers.

As The Music Center wraps up its 14th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, Angelenos have the opportunity to see some of the world's finest dancers perform a mix of iconic ballets and new pieces in The Music Center's BalletNOW.  Following the popularity of the first BalletNOW in 2015, The Music Center commissioned this highly innovative three-performance program, featuring international ballet sensation and New York City Ballet Principal Tiler Peck as curator.  Peck created a mixed repertory to highlight the versatility and athleticism of today's ballet dancers including pieces that pair classical dancers with their contemporaries in other dance genres. 

After nearly 20 years leading the internationally focused Lincoln Center Festival, Director Nigel Redden announced today that the 2017 Festival will be his last. He will step down in September to concentrate on the artistic expansion of the annual Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina, where he serves as general director, as well as other global artistic projects.

Kegelstatt musicians Steph Wake-Dyster, clarinet; Esther Toh, double bass; Renae Stavely, oboe; and Anna Webb, viola, together with Alexandra Castle, flute and Emma Perkins, violin, will guide the audience through 'Dance' with live spoken interludes, emphasizing the connection and dialogue between the performers, the music and the audience.

John Neumeier's A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, inspired by the Pulitzer Prize winning play by Tennessee Williams, had its National Ballet of Canada premiere on June 3, 2017. The ballet dives deeper into Blanche DuBois' psyche, examining the motivation for her psychological instability. Featuring music by Sergei Prokofiev and Alfred Schnittke, Mr. Neumeier's choreography exposes more vulnerability, fragility and desire than could ever be communicated by words alone. Neumeier's visionary production expands on the context referenced in Williams' play - by showing us more, we feel more.

Ireland's CoisCeim Dance Theatre will present an energetic interpretation of Sergei Prokofiev's timeless story of courage and imagination, Peter and the Wolf, at Arts Centre Melbourne's Fairfax Studio on 1 and 2 July.

Nikita Mndoyants, the electrifying first prize winner of the 2016 Cleveland International Piano Competition (CIPC) will make his New York debut at Carnegie Hall, Weill Hall on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at 8:00 pm. He will perform one of his own compositions, plus works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Prokofiev.

Audiences of all ages will be dazzled by the classical fairy tale Cinderella presented by the Wheatland Dance Theater at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017. The performance, which features young dancers from the Plainfield Dance Academy and special guest dancers, tells the story of a young girl who discovers her prince with a little help from her fairy godmother. The full-length ballet will be held at West Aurora High School Auditorium, 1201 W. New York Street, Aurora, IL. San Francisco Ballet, long recognized for pushing boundaries in dance, has announced its 2017-18 Season program and schedule. This summer, SF Ballet will return to Festival Napa Valley for one performance only on Friday, July 21, 2017, accompanied by members of the SF Ballet Orchestra. In addition, this October, the Company will once again participate in World Ballet Day LIVE, a day-long streaming event (details to be announced).
