HAIRSPRAY, Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical comedy phenomenon returns to Portland! This new North American tour, helmed by original director Jack O'Brien and original choreographer Jerry Mitchell, will play March 28 through April 2 at Portland's Keller Auditorium.

In Broadway by Design, BroadwayWorld is shining a spotlight on the stellar designs of this Broadway season, show by show. Today, we continue the series with the costume designer extraordinaire from Some Like It Hot, two-time Tony winner Gregg Barnes.

Situation Project, in partnership with the producers of Some Like It Hot, welcomed more than 380 NYC public school students and their teachers to attend a matinee performance of Some Like It Hot on Broadway.

La MaMa will present A SCREAM IN THE DARK, a world premiere solo play by Brazil’s Companhia Nova de Teatro that investigates the military dictatorship and censorship in Brazil (1964-1985) – one of the most obscure periods from the recent history of that country.

Tickets for HAIRSPRAY, Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical comedy phenomenon, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023. This new North American tour, helmed by original director Jack O'Brien and original choreographer Jerry Mitchell, will play at Bass Concert Hall June 13-18, 2023 as part of Texas Performing Arts' Broadway in Austin 2022-2023 Season.

This season, the new musical Some Like It Hot is bringing the old-fashioned showstopper back to life on Broadway. Disney Parks have teased that Shaiman and Wittman's Rogers: the Musical will be adapted into a complete production for a run at Disney California Adventure Park this summer. The theme park's official Twitter account shared a video of a woman holding a program for the musical walking into the Hyperion Theatre.

J. Harrison Ghee, Kevin Del Aguila, and the cast of Some Like It Hot appeared on The View this morning to perform 'Let's Be Bad.' Written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, audiences may recognize 'Let's Be Bad' as it previously appeared in the popular television series SMASH, written for the fictional musical 'Bombshell.' RADIO 477!, a new theatrical production about the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv in 1929 and today –  in collaboration with the prominent Ukrainian literary figure Serhiy Zhadan – will debut at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 E. 4 St. in Manhattan), with performances beginning March 10 through March 19, it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's artistic director.

HAIRSPRAY THE MUSICAL is given a Sydney Revival over two decades after Jack O’Brien (Original Director) and Jerry Mitchell’s (Original Choreographer) original multi Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Laurence Olivier Award Winning production opened on Broadway. 

Mariah Carey made a surprise appearance following a performance of Some Like It Hot on Friday, February 10. Carey serves on the producing team of the new musical. BroadwayWorld was there and you can check out photos here!
