Just last night, the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust hosted the 2015 Steinberg Playwright Awards honoring Branden Jacobs-Jenkins and Dominique Morisseau at Lincoln Center Theater's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65th Street, New York, NY 10023). The event featured readings byJocelyn Bioh, Marc Damon Johnson, Jason Dirden, Austin Durant, Dominique Fishback, Lynda Gravatt, Nikiya Mathis, Chris Myers, Carra Patterson, Will Rogers, Michele Shay and Brian Tyree Henry.

The new American musical Allegiance officially opened last night, November 8, at the Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street, starring Tony and Olivier Award winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Les Miserables) in her long-awaited return to Broadway, 'Star Trek' icon George Takei in his Broadway debut at age 78, and Broadway and 'Glee' star Telly Leung. Allegiance is the vibrant and unforgettable story of one family's resilience in the face of seemingly-insurmountable odds, inspired by Takei's real-life experience as a Japanese American during World War II. Comedy and television icon Bob Saget just stepped into the role of 'Pastor Greg' in the Tony Award-nominated comedy Hand to God beginning last week through the production's previously announced closing on January 3, 2016. Saget returns to Broadway after making his Broadway debut in 2007 in the Tony-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone. He will join current Hand to Godcast members Steven Boyer, Geneva Carr, Sarah Stiles, and Michael Oberholtzer.
