HoustonLive, a Houston-based singer-songwriter platform to discover and support promising Texas singer/songwriters launches their 2020 Songwriter Competition and open submissions registration. The competition is open to Texas Residents and welcomes song submissions from all genres of music. ANDTheatre Company is pleased to announce the 13th Annual 'Eclectic Evening of Shorts: Boxers and Briefs,' running from February 28th-March 8th at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios. Sixteen new plays will be performed in two groups ('Boxers' and 'Briefs') over the course of eight evenings. Between short plays, solo performances, and even a multimedia painting exposition with a dramatic thrust, these new evenings of shorts certainly live up to their 'eclectic' name!

Reliving the 80's nostalgia of romantic comedies, legwarmers and roller disco...XANADU is a classic tale of boy meets girl, except that this girl is actually Greek muse 'Kira' performed by Kelly Frank, sent from the heavens to Venice Beach, California to help struggling artist, Sonny portrayed by Mark Russ to achieve his greatest dream, to open the first ROLLER DISCO! When Kira falls into forbidden love with this mortal, two of her jealous sisters, Melpomene (Bryn Goldstein) and Calliope (Jordan Resnick) take advantage of the situation with the other muses along with greedy real estate mogul, Danny Maguire performed by T. J. Sheppard and a host of other heavenly bodies to complete a recipe of chaos with abounding absurdity that will have you laughing and enjoying a carefree evening of entertainment of theater.

Limelight Performing Arts, in partnership with Studio 3 Performing Arts, will give audiences a taste of American musical comedy in the Roaring 20's with a youth production of The Drowsy Chaperone, which runs April 21 through May 7 at Studio 3's Artspace Theatre in Gilbert. The series saw a 97% increase in A18-49, doubling the season one average, and is now second only to the channel's highest rated series Doctor Who in A18-49. In addition, Orphan Black was the #1 television show on Twitter and Tumblr for the day and is the #1 basic cable drama on Twitter for the week.

Orfeo Group, Orfeo Group is planning an ambitious series of programming as an extension of its production of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged). Beginning at 6:00 PM before every performance of the 'Complete WOWS(a)', Orfeo Group will present a Prelude during which local actors, directors, playwrights and arts groups will showcase their work.
