Principal Pops Conductor Jack Everly leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in performances of Singin' in the Rain, Today, March 26, at 8 p.m. at The Music Center at Strathmore and Friday, March 27, at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, March 29, at 3 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Ranked by the American Film Institute (AFI) as the No. 1 movie musical of all time, Singin' in the Rain stars Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds, and features a lighthearted portrayal of iconic dance and memorable songs, including 'Make 'em Laugh,' 'Fit as a Fiddle' and more. Standards made wildly popular by the great male nightclub singers of the 1950s—Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Bobby Darin and others—electrify the concert hall for the opening of Pacific Symphony's 2014-15 Pops Season. This high-energy show features award-winning vocalist Michael Andrew, who was praised on Larry King Live, “as one of the great singers of all time.” Andrew headlined the world-famous Rainbow Room atop Rockefeller Center for two years as its main singer and bandleader. He was also the band leader and singer for Merv Griffin's “Coconut Club” at The Beverly Hilton before creating his hit musical comedy, “Mickey Swingerhead and The Earthgirls” and the 18-piece Atomic Big Band featured in the film “Poseidon.” Now taking orchestras by storm in cities across America, Andrew joins the Symphony, led by Principal Pops Conductor Richard Kaufman, to recall the “good old days” when music was swinging, jazzy and always came with a Big Band. Jason Alexander Will Step in for Mandy Patinkin at BSO's SuperPops Program

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) has confirmed that due a schedule conflict resulting from participation in an upcoming Broadway production, Mandy Patinkin has withdrawn from his engagement with the Orchestra, slated for January 22 at The Music Center at Strathmore and January 23-25, 2015 at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. In his place, the BSO welcomes actor Jason Alexander, best known for his portrayal as George Costanza on the hit series 'Seinfeld,' in addition to his lengthy Broadway career. One of the most iconic rock-and-roll bands to come out of London during the 1970s—Grammy Award-winning “America”—joins Pacific Symphony Pops to rock the house with hot hits, soulful ballads and rock classics. The perennial folk-country-rock favorite celebrates its 44th anniversary this year with nearly half a century of gold and platinum albums, chart-topping hits and a variety of genre-crossing tunes in its wake. The band's surreal, somewhat psychedelic lyrics, which were an anomaly in their genre, helped to define the new California soft-rock sound that grew out of the area's folk and pop. Founding members Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell join the orchestra to perform such signature hits as “A Horse with No Name,” “Ventura Highway,” “You Can Do Magic,” “Lonely People,” “Sister Golden Hair,” “Tin Man” and more.
