Radio Roots Writers' Group, A Project Of The Parsnip Ship, Announces Its First Cohort

The Parsnip Ship announced today its first cohort of its newly created Radio Roots Writers' Group. The Radio Roots Writers' Group is a group facilitated by The Parsnip Ship (TPS) to support emerging playwrights interested in re-engaging with playwriting through audio-focused storytelling, breaking away from traditional forms of visual storytelling. Much like all programming on The Parsnip Ship's platform, Radio Roots seeks to cultivate distinct new theater artists. The first cohort will include playwrights: Amara Brady, Gina Femia, Jessie DeBruin and Nina Ki.
THE COLLABORATOR PARTY Returns For Its Fifth Year With Events Across America

Today, The Collaborator Party, headed by theatrical sound designers Lindsay Jones and John Gromada, announced that their event will return for its fifth year in New York City, after four years of the now legendary sold-out parties across the country. The Collaborator Party is the official Tony night party for the entire theatre community. This year, the main party will be held June 9, 2019 at Houston Hall (222 W. Houston St. in New York City) from 7pm-11pm EDT, with additional parties taking place simultaneously in Chicago, Houston and Los Angeles. Messiahis a play about the legacy of the Panthers in the age of crack, where a scratch at a DJ booth incites a replay of the past, an action that interrogates generations of violence on black, queer bodies.

Producer Stephanie Wilson & Artistic Director/Producer Richard Mazda in association with LIC-Artists is delighted to announce an immersive production of The Tempest. We are performing our production in the 8000sq ft Plaxall Gallery in LIC. The production features an Ariel on silks, a dance company, projections and a huge playing area where scenes will move around the space with the audience following the action. Directed by Owen Thompson our production has incorporated a dance company choreographed by the incredible Shoko Tamai of Ninja Ballet, projection design by Sadah Espii Proctor. The production also features a concurrent art exhibition, …Dream Again curated by The Plaxall Gallery's Norma Homberg.

Today Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein announced the cast for the New York premiere of Surely Goodness and Mercy, a truly Keen story about an exceptional boy living a troubled life in Newark, NJ who does a good deed for an often unnoticed person. Sarita Covington, Jay Mazyck, Brenda Pressley, Courtney Thomas, and Cezar Williams will star under Jessi D. Hill's direction. The design team includes Lee Savage (scenic), Nicole Wee (costumes), Devorah Kengmana (lighting), and Sadah Espii Proctor (sound).

Untitled Theater Company No. 61 (UTC61) presents a new play by Edward Einhorn examining the nexus between neuroscience, marketing, art, and love. Set at a neuromarketing firm, it follows a neuroscientist who is trying to scientifically define love; his wife, an artist who is using her brain scans as the basis of video self-portraits; a marketer who is trying to apply the science of love to advertising; and a gallery owner who deals with art as a commodity. This multimedia production continues UTC61's ongoing interest in combining theater with the fields of economics and neuroscience.
