The Royal Court Theatre has announced it will present four new works between April and August 2023 as well as a Tony Award-winning Broadway transfer in 2024.

With Zadie Smith’s The Wife of Willesden about to transfer to the US, Kiln Theatre has announced the full cast for the world première of Ryan Calais Cameron’s new play based on a true event in the life of actor Sidney Poitier in 1950s Hollywood – Ian Bonar (Bobby), Ivanno Jeremiah (Sidney), and Daniel Lapaine (Mr Parks).

​​​​​​​New Diorama Theatre and Underbelly are announcing a renewed three-year partnership, relaunching their hit-making Untapped award, originally developed in 2018 and aimed at discovering and supporting emerging theatre makers at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. From 2023, Concord Theatricals also join the partnership, helping supercharge the support offered to diverse-led companies showcasing work at the Edinburgh Fringe.

The Royal Court Theatre and Nica Burns have announced that For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy by Ryan Calais Cameron will transfer to the Apollo Theatre in London’s West End for a limited run of six weeks only.

The Broadway is set to throw its doors wide open, bringing an exciting mix of live performances to Catford from Sunday 12 February while also providing a home for community projects and new writing.

Nouveau Riche and Paines Plough have announced We Rise, a free five-part series of short films shining a light on how to manoeuvre, cope and self-care against racism in the theatre sector. The films will be released weekly and readily available to everyone on Youtube, Instagram and Facebook with the first episode airing on Wednesday 16 November. 

The winners of the Black British Theatre Awards 2022 have been announced. The awards' ceremony was held the National Theatre on October 16.

Theatre Peckham has announced its Autumn/Winter Season and unveils the title of this year’s Christmas Show. The programme from September 2022 to March 2023 includes the Premiere of two new powerful dramas which bookend the season.

They are directing the original cast: Mark Akintimehin, Emmanuel Akwafo, Nnabiko Ejimofor, Darragh Hand, Aruna Jalloh and Kaine Lawrence.

The Royal Court Theatre will present For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy by Ryan Calais Cameron in association with New Diorama Theatre and Nouveau Riche in the Jerwood Theatre Downstairs from March 31 2022, with press night on Thursday 7 April 2022, 7pm. 

In mid-lockdown and after the tragic death of George Floyd, writer Ryan Calais Cameron came to me with a clear and simple question - are people born racist? This started a wide-reaching, knotty and brilliant conversation with young people across the country.
