NYU Steinhardt's New Plays for Young Audiences will celebrate its 25th season of TYA new play development in the historical Provincetown Playhouse.The first week of the series brings back NYU-alum and celebrated playwright, Ramon Esquivel, in his new play with music, ZEQ.

The West Coast premiere of (Un)Documents, written and performed by queer actor, theatermaker and poet Jesús I. Valles and directed by Rudy Ramirez, opened last weekend in a Latino Theater Company production at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, where performances continue through November 20. See photos here!

Latino Theater Company will present the West Coast premiere of (Un)Documents written and performed by queer actor, theatermaker & poet Jesús I. Valles and directed by Rudy Ramirez. Performances take place October 14 through November 20 at The Los Angeles Theatre Center in Downtown L.A, with two low-priced previews set for October 12 and October 13.

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of nonprofit theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, has announced the election of Roberta Emerson (Director of New Play Development, Orlando Shakes), Alexandra Meda (Artistic Director, Studio Luna), Catherine Painter (Managing Director, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble), Rudy Ramirez (Associate Artistic Director, the VORTEX), and DeLanna Studi (Artistic Director, Native Voices at the Autry) to its Board of Directors.  

Signature Theatre’s SigSpace will reteam this June with Theatre For One to present six one-on-one, five-to-six minute theater experiences. Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, has announced the participants in the sixth round of its Rising Leaders of Color (RLC) Program.

BIPOC IN TYA -- a grassroots group of Black, Indigenous & People of Color theatre artists and educators who work in Theatre for Young Audiences nationwide -- collaborated to create ANTI-RACIST & ANTI-OPPRESSIVE FUTURES FOR THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES: AN INTERACTIVE GUIDE, to be released on February 8, 2021. The project has 25 contributors and 70 signatories including Michael J. Bobbitt and Nambi E Kelly. It is published in partnership with TYA/USA, the national organization for the Theatre for Young Audiences industry.

If my Facebook and Instagram feeds are any guide, a culinary renaissance has taken place on an epic scale. What does this have to do with Austin theatre, you ask? Well, Baking For Good, an organization of local theatre luminaries is what and their offerings not only fill your belly, they are food for the soul of our community as well.

New Manifest Theatre Company brings its second annual short play festival, Manifest Minifest, to YouTube on September 24 - 26, 2020. In addition to four short plays, this year's lineup features educational workshops from playwrights Idris Goodwin and Kristiana Rae Colón. Registration is free, but donations are welcome.

The Magik Theatre continues to keep kids engaged during COVID-19 by offering its programs on an online platform to support the community's a?oestay-at-homea?? effort.  As the school year draws to a close, the Magik Theatre will present its premiere summer program, Camp Showbiz, as an E-cademy theatre option with online classes through August 21.
