Center Theatre Group Artistic Director Michael Ritchie has set the 2018 - 2019 seasons at both the Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre. Together, the seasons feature new plays, classic works and the continuation of Block Party, which celebrates the rich array of theatre produced every year in Los Angeles.
Asolo Rep continues its 2017-18 season with the celebrated American musical RAGTIME. Directed by Peter Rothstein, founding artistic director of Theater Latte Da in Minneapolis, RAGTIME features a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, who all garnered Tony Awards for the production. The original Broadway production was directed by Frank Galati, who received a Tony nomination for his work and is an Associate Artist at Asolo Rep. A collaboration with Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, RAGTIME previews May 1 - 3, opens May 4 and runs through May 27 in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.

Hill Harper has signed on with Archrok Entertainment to Co-Executive Produce the Egyptian film trilogy 'Protector of the Gods.' This historical project will be directed by the stories' creator, Kameko Tarnez. The story is set in a magical world created by Academy Award-winning VFX Director Pete Polyakov ('Mad Max: Fury Road,' 'Interstellar,' and 'Batman v Superman') and Academy Award-winning Production Designer David Bryan ('The Hurt Locker,' '47 Meters Down,' 'The Other Side of the Door'). Vol. 1 of the trilogy follows the journey of female Pharaoh Hatshepsut, played by British actress Shingai Shoniwa (lead singer of the multi-platinum selling group Noisettes). This will be followed by Vol. 2 (Nefertiti) and Vol. 3 (Cleopatra). Filming will begin in August 2018. 'Protector of the Gods' is an epic and magical story that we have yet to see envisioned nor attempted by a Hollywood studio. Highlights of this programming include a look at the outsiders within Othelloand The Merchant of Venice with Stephen Greenblatt and Kwame Anthony Appiah; sneak peeks of Robert O'Hara's Mobile Unit production of Henry V and the Shakespeare Works artist development program; a discussion about the production history of Othello and putting it on stage for today's contemporary audience with James Shapiro and Ayanna Thompson; and special invited performances of As You Like It by the Hunts Point Children's Shakespeare Ensemble.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit TADA! Youth Theater, of which Aurora, Sasha, and Ricardo are all alumni. Come hear songs ranging from Sondheim to Bob Dylan to Aurora's original compositions.
The Geffen Playhouse today announced that Christian Camargo (Penny Dreadful, The Hurt Locker) has joined its West Coast Premiere of Martyna Majok's Ironbound, directed by Tyne Rafaeli (Actually). Camargo will play Tommy alongside Tony Award nominee Marin Ireland (Broadway's reasons to be pretty, Amazon's Sneaky Pete) as Darja and Josiah Bania (The Good Wife) as Maks, both of whom are reprising their Off-Broadway roles in the Geffen production, and Marcel Spears (The Mayor) as Vic.
