50 years after the original West Side Story film was released, the world is preparing for Steven Spielberg's upcoming remake.

Something's coming! It has been revealed that film star Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver, The Fault In Our Stars) has been cast in the leading role of Tony in Steven Spielberg's upcoming remake of the movie musical West Side Story.

Falling during the celebration of Leonard Bernstein's 100th birthday, On Broadway & SVA Theatre Present a special screening of the Academy Award-winning movie musical WEST SIDE STORY (1961), followed by a conversation with the Oscar-winning star of the film, George Chakiris, on Monday, August 20th at 5:30pm.

While the buzz recently has been about a screen adaptation of the classic musical West Side Story, The Hollywood Reporter has just revealed that award-winning director Ivo van Hove will be bringing West Side Story to the Broadway stage next season. 

Disney has pushed the Steven Spielberg-directed Indiana Jones 5 to July 9, 2021 now that Spielberg's other project, a West Side Story reboot, is in pre-production, Deadline has reported.

Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, opens its 2018-19 season with the Tony Award-winning musical WEST SIDE STORY. WEST SIDE STORY will open the season, runningAugust 30 - September 16, 2018, and MAMMA MIA! will replace the previously announced closing show, THE WEDDING SINGER, running May 9 - 26, 2019.

The McCallum Theatre presents WEST SIDE STORY: IN CONCERT for five performances Friday, March 9 through Sunday, March 11. This classic musical is being exclusively produced by the McCallum Theatre as part of its Leonard Bernstein Centennial Celebration.  The March 9 performance of West Side Story: In Concert is presented through the generosity of Annette Bloch.  The March 10 performance is presented through the generosity of Richard and Julia Heyman.  The March 11 performance is presented through the generosity of Edeltraud and Patrick M. McCarthy. With a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins, West Side Story is one of the most beloved and celebrated musicals in Broadway history.  The original 1957 Broadway production ran for 732 performances and was nominated for six Tony Awards including Best Musical, winning for Best Choreography and Best Scenic Design.  The 1961 musical film, directed by Robert Wise and Robbins, won ten Academy Awards including Best Picture.

Film editor Thomas Stanford, best known for his Academy Award-winning work on WEST SIDE STORY, passed away on Saturday, December 30th at the age of 93.

The ABC Television Network will air THE SOUND OF MUSIC, the Rodgers & Hammerstein cinematic treasure, airing as part of Disney ABC's special 25 Days of Christmas programming event, TONIGHT, DEC. 17 (7:00-11:00 p.m. EST), on The ABC Television Network.
