PrideArts today announced a reading of Shakespeare's comedy A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, to be performed Tuesday, June 22nd at 7:00 pm. Peter Vamvakas, who directed the company's readings of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIGHT and Joe Calarco's SHAKESPEARE'S R&J, will direct the classic as a gender bending romp through ancient Greece.

The play by Joe Calarco, for this presentation, is set in an exclusive Catholic boarding school for girls, where a group of girls begin to read ROMEO AND JULIET aloud after school, and they become so enmeshed in the emotion that the rigidity of their lives begins to parallel the lives of the characters in the play.

Full casting was announced today for PrideArts’ January 26 reading of Tarell Alvin McCraney’s MARCUS; OR THE SECRET OF SWEET. Curtain time will be 7 pm. Christian Helem, who recently directed Stage Left Theatre’s virtual production of THE PROJECT(S), is directing.

The Michigan Shakespeare Festival, the Official Shakespeare Festival of the State of Michigan, designated by the Governor and State Legislature, continued their 2017 "Lend Me Your Ears" reading series with Noel Coward's sophisticated comedy PRIVATE LIVES.  The reading, held at Jackson's Symphony Orchestra Hall (which also houses the offices of the MSF), featured touring company actors Derek Ridge and Sara Long, long-time artistic associate David Blixt, and Producing Artistic Director Janice L Blixt.
