As part of the Celebrations of the 400th anniversary of francophone presence in Ontario, Théâtre la Tangente is proud to introduce the second chapter of AMERICANDREAM.CA, a trilogy by Claude Guilmain. Part 2 will be presented at Theatre Glendon on Thursday September 3 and Friday September 4, while Parts 1 and 2 will be presented on Saturday September 5, followed by a panel discussion on the vitality of Franco-Ontarian dramaturgy. The play will be offered with English audio translation.

AMERICANDREAM.CA tells the story of a French-Canadian family within the context of the history of America, the glittering mirage from which come all our dreams... and nightmares. As they gather to celebrate a birthday, the members of the Cardinal family - Claude, Maude, Alain and his wife Pat, as well as Maude's children Brigitte and Émilie - find a silent yet troublesome guest in their midst: the spectre of Joseph Cardinal, the grandfather they never knew, and whose fate may be connected to the November 22, 1963 events in Dallas. This discovery will impact each member of the Cardinal family in a different way. By dissecting a shattered dream and observing those who struggle to glue the pieces back together, playwright Claude Guilmain offers a biting commentary on the power of myth and illusion. AMERICANDREAM.CA seamlessly combines text, movement and video projections to create a spellbinding and emotional performance.

Co-directed by Théâtre la Tangente's founding members Claude Guilmain, an award-winning screenwriter, dramaturge, theatre director and documentary filmmaker, and Louise Naubert, the recipient of the 2012 John Hirsch Director's Award. Featuring: Sasha Dominique, Magali Lemèle, Bernard Meney, Louise Naubert, Pier Paquette and Anie Richer. Also featuring Stephan Rodrigue, Rick Miller, and Anne-Sophie Quemener.

Set designer: Claude Guilmain; Lighting designer: Guillaume Houët; Visual effects, co-set designer, technical director: Duncan Appleton; Soundscape and original music: Claude Naubert; Movement: Sylvie Bouchard; Set design collaborator and stage manager: Aurélien Muller; Photographer and webmaster: Mikaël Lavogiez.

Le Théâtre la Tangente produces hybrid original works combining theatre, music, dance and video. Entertaining and thought provoking, the company's artistic projects are articulated in the constant evolution of its founding members who, engaged in writing, setdesign, music, lighting design, directing and acting, feed a complicity bornfrom the exchange of ideas, the sensitivity and the interdependence of their respective disciplines to create original works. Each new work provokes there-examination of the artistic process of artisans coming from different backgrounds.
