Canadian Stage to Host Theatre Ball 2015, 3/26

By:

Canadian Stage celebrates an innovative vision of theatre, dance, music and visual art - taking guests on a seductive journey through their artistic work with Theatre Ball 2015. The company's annual fundraising gala takes place on March 26 at Arcadian Court (401 Bay St., #8). Hosted by Rick Miller and Carly Street, the stars of Canadian Stage's hit production Venus in Fur, the event will raise funds to support the company's artistic programming, development activities, community programs and education outreach initiatives. Guests will experience an evening of dancing and entertainment with performances from Taylor Mac, along with an enticing three-course meal and cocktails.

A highlight of the evening will be Mac's intimate performance supported by Emmy Award-winner, Lance Horne. Called "one of contemporary theater's more unforgettable performances" by The New Yorker, Mac will treat guests to an audacious musical performance before dinner. Later on, dynamic and multi-faceted artist - Toronto's own Maylee Todd - takes to the DJ booth to keep the dance floor busy all night long.

Following dinner, guests are invited to take part in a live auction and a raffle for the opportunity to win a jewellery design experience and create a one-of-a-kind piece with Solitaire Jewellery. Auction lots (including a silent auction) will feature a variety of unique experiences, including:

  • A week-long stay at Big White Resort in Kelowna, BC.
  • A private in-home concert with Ed Robertson of The Barenaked Ladies
  • A double-date at The Spoke Club with artistic & general director Matthew Jocelyn and Academy Award nominated filmmaker Atom Egoyan
  • A special St. Andrew's New Brunswick Century Home Experience
  • The Stan Douglas Experience: A photograph from the world-renowned Canadian artist and a once in a lifetime experience with the artist in New York, Fall 2015
