From the moment the first note rang out, this was no ordinary Proms night. Four wildly different pieces, one restless thread: mischief. Mendelssohn is the marquee name here but really this was a foray into the world of fairytale birds, lyrical longing, mythological monkeys and death-defying pranksters.

Ku-Ring-Gai Philharmonic Orchestra to Perform Beethoven and Strauss in August

The Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra will return to the Concourse Concert Hall in Chatswood on Sunday, August 31 at 3:00 p.m. for a program featuring Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Richard Strauss’ Also Sprach Zarathustra, alongside the Australian premiere of Of Gates No Longer Known by emerging composer Paul Nicolaou.

With direction by André Heller-Lopes and musical direction by Priscila Bomfim, this production brings together Italian composer Giacomo Puccini and German composer Richard Strauss.
