Adapted from John Buchan's novel, Patrick Barlow's The 39 Steps will be directed by Ryan McBryde – in a co-production with Mercury Theatre Colchester and Octagon Theatre Bolton.

Review: A HILARIOUS CAPER UNDER THE STARS: 'THE 39 STEPS' IN WILCOX PARK: Colonial Theatre mounts delightful spy thriller spoof

A cast of four in a hilarious spoof of Hitchcock's film noir, complete with a high-speed chase across London and Scotland.

South Pasadena Theatre Workshop has announced the dynamic staging of The 39 Steps, adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan and based on the celebrated Alfred Hitchcock film. This comedic parody play features an ensemble of five LA-based actors and runs from July 31 to September 1st.

A stage adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1930’s spy film (which was in turn was an adaptation of John Buchans novel), The 39 Steps is a madcap dramedy set in 1935 but many of its themes feel relevant today, despite the wacky premise of just four actors playing 139 characters.

]The Virginia Theatre Festival is wrapping up its 50th Anniversary season with the two-time-Tony Award-winning, hilarious whodunit The 39 Steps which opens on July 25.
