The Hearth (Artistic Directors Julia Greer and Emma Miller) will present a special return engagement of their production of ATHENA, written by Gracie Gardner (American Playwriting Foundation's 2017 Relentless Award for Pussy Sludge) and directed by Emma Miller (NYIT nominated director of For Annie) at JACK (505 ½ Waverly Avenue between Fulton and Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn) September 5-16. Performances will be on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday at 8pm and Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm. Corkscrew Theater Festival presents delicacy of a puffin heart, written by Stefani Kuo and directed by Theo Maltz. Running July 25-August 5, delicacy of a puffin heart traces the stories of two pairs of immigrant/first generation women living in the same San Francisco apartment, twenty years apart: in the 1990s, a lesbian couple hoping to have a child, and in the present, their adult daughter living with her best friend. Both pairs of women struggle to maintain their intimate connection while facing mental and physical illness. Performed by Dominique Brillon, Diane Chen, Cleo Gray, Drita Kabashi, and O'mer Koren, delicacy of a puffin heart is the fourth production in the second annual season of Corkscrew Theater Festival, a new summer theater festival that provides early-career artists with a high level of production support.

Footloose is based off of a story about Ren McCormack moving to a small town where the local government has banned dancing and rock music, and how he leads his classmates around the law and Reverend Shaw Moore to have a real senior prom. The music is by Tom Snow(among others), the lyrics by Dean Pitchford (with additional lyrics by Kenny Loggins), and the book by Pitchford and Walter Bobbie.

On the eve of what would have been Anne Frank's 89th birthday, had she survived the Holocaust, The Playhouse on Park production of The Diary of Anne Frank, based on a new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, walked off with three out of the possible four awards it was nominated for, at the Connecticut Critics Circle Awards ceremony on Monday night, June 11.

London Classic Theatre today announces the full company for their UK tour of Charlotte Keatley's My Mother Said I Never Should. Artistic Director of LCT, Michael Cabot, directs Felicity Houlbrooke (Rosie Metcalfe), Fiz Marcus (Doris Partington), Kathryn Ritchie (Jackie Metcalfe) and Connie Walker (Margaret Bradley). The production tours to 14 venues, opening at Theatre Royal Windsor on 25 September with performances at Queen's Hall Arts Centre, Hexham, Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds and Gala Theatre, Durham from 11 September.
