Martin Heidegger and Hannah Arendt were leading intellectuals of the twentieth century. In the 1920's, they had a passionate affair. In the 1930's, Heidegger became an ardent Nazi while Arendt became an ardent Zionist. Nevertheless, after the war, they still continued to correspond and to meet. Douglas Lackey dramatizes their relationship in 'Arendt-Heidegger: A Love Story,' a five-character play to be presented by Theater for the New City from September 27 to October 14. Its dialogue and action go beyond known facts, but everything in the play is consistent with them. Alexander Harrington directs.

Rehearsals begin yesterday for the world premiere of Martin McDonagh's A Very Very Very Dark Matter at the Bridge Theatre. The cast comprises Johnetta Eula'Mae Ackles, Alistair Benson, Elizabeth Berrington, Paul Bradley, Noah Brignull, Jim Broadbent, Phil Daniels, Regan Garcia, Leo Hart, Graeme Hawley, Audrey Hayhurst, Kundai Kanyama, Lee Knight, Jamie McKie, Ryan Pope, James Roberts, Alice Selwyn, Austin Taylor, Amelia Walter and Annabelle Westenholz-Smith including nine children who will alternate a variety of roles.

On September 14 at the Queens Theatre, composer Landon Knoblock will premiere 'A Voice for the Voiceless,' a stirring new social justice music project inspired by and created with young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in New York City public schools. Commissioned by the Queens Council on the Arts' Artist Commissioning Program, the piece sets out to amplify the voices of some of the community's most underrepresented and at-risk children through the emotional immediacy and connectivity of music.

London Classic Theatre today announces that Carole Dance will now play the role of Doris Partington in the UK tour of Charlotte Keatley's My Mother Said I Never Should. Dance steps into the role as Fiz Marcus has had to withdraw due to unforeseen health issues. The full company is completed by Felicity Houlbrooke (Rosie Metcalfe), Kathryn Ritchie (Jackie Metcalfe) and Connie Walker (Margaret Bradley). Artistic Director of LCT, Michael Cabot, directs the production, which tours to 14 venues, opening at Theatre Royal Windsor on 25 September with performances at Queen's Hall Arts Centre, Hexham, Theatre Royal, Bury St Edmunds and Gala Theatre, Durham from 11 September.

Queens Theatre is excited to announce its new training program specifically for early-career Deaf and disabled actors with its Theatre For All Initiative. The two-week, free program runs Sept. 16 to Sept. 28, and will include workshops on Acting for the Camera, Acting for the Stage, Movement, Voice, Improv, Auditioning, and Commercials.
