I AND YOU Launches Penguin's Mainstage Season

Penguin Rep Theatre, the Stony Point-based nonprofit professional theatre, launches its 2022 mainstage season with I AND YOU by Lauren Gunderson, one of the country's most widely produced authors for the stage, starting Friday, April 29, artistic director Joe Brancato announced today.

Julien Dubuque International Film Festival Returns For 11th Year

As the famous backdrop of the Field of Dreams movie, Dubuque is also becoming known as the destination for independent filmmakers and film enthusiasts from around the world. The producers of the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival announce this year's Festival dates are confirmed for April 20th - 24th, 2022. In its 11th year, the JDIFF will be held at the historic Hotel Julien Dubuque and other locations along the city's downtown Main Street corridor, complete with a red carpet awards ceremony, panels, workshops and other networking events for filmmakers. Tickets are $10-150 and are available for purchase on the Festival's website.

Justin Champagne Releases Latin Remix of 'I'm the One' Featuring El Taiger

Justin Champagne, the viral sensation who makes genre-bending music rooted in the sounds, stories and swampy swagger of his home turf of South Louisiana, released the latin remix of the catchy “I’m The One,” featuring El Taiger today via ONErpm. A swaggy electronic beat from the Latin superstar, who has over a million and a half monthly listeners on Spotify, is infused in the track with the pre-existing organic rock and country guitars that adds a unique flair to the track. The collaborators will go live tonight on Champagne's Instagram (@iamjustinchampagne) at 6:30 pm central.

Conservativism and religious hypocrisy take it on the chin in the newest play coming up this month from Script2Stage2Screen.  S2S2S is a company in Rancho Mirage which presents previously unproduced scripts as staged readings with blocking and suggested sets and costumes, but with scripts in hand.  For several years, their season finale has been a comedy written and directed by Jason Hull, a Palm Springs local.  His plays have developed a strong following of fans who love the situation comedies of the 70’s and 80’s.  They know they will have a good time with plenty of belly laughs.  The play runs for two nights only, April 22 and 23, and seating is limited.
