Following the resounding success of the inaugural Breaking the Binary Theatre Festival in 2022, Founding Artistic Director George Strus has announced Breaking the Binary Theatre.

Marc Platt has announced that La La Land will be adapted into a Broadway musical directed by Bartlett Sher. The musical will feature music from the film's composer, Justin Hurwitz and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. The book will be written by Ayad Akhtar and Matthew Decker. 

Manhattan Theatre Club’s world premiere The Best We Could (a family tragedy), written by Emily Feldman and directed by Daniel Aukin will now begin preview performances on Wednesday, February 8, at New York City Center – Stage I.

New Jersey Repertory Company will present The Rosenberg/Strange Fruit Project written by John Jiler and directed by Margarett Perry. The play stars John Jiler and clarinetist, Lee Odom. Performances run March 9 through April 2, Thursdays & Fridays 8pm; Saturdays 3pm & 8pm; and Sundays at 2pm

Second Stage Theater will host a Winter’s Ball geared towards young professionals and arts patrons, featuring Michael R. Jackson and Common. The fundraising event will take place on Monday, February 27 at The Pierre Hotel. See

Directed by San Francisco Playhouse Co-Founder and Producing Director Susi Damilano, Clue will perform March 9 – April 22, 2023 at San Francisco Playhouse.

Mint Theater Company will return to New York City Center Stage II with the World Premiere of one of its most exciting discoveries ever: Becomes a Woman, an unpublished and unproduced play by Betty Smith (A Tree Grows in Brooklyn).

From March 1-April 9, 2023, Studio Theatre will present a new production of Clyde's, the 2021 comedy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and contemporary American theatre icon Lynn Nottage. Nottage's work comes to the Studio stages for the first time in this wry and wistful show, which a recent nationwide survey by American Theatre magazine found to be the most-produced play in the United States this season.

Wicked will welcome new cast members to the Gershwin Theatre this spring. Tony Award-nominee John Dossett will take over the role of The Wizard, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, last seen on Broadway in Girl from the North Country, will assume the role of Nessarose, and William Youmans, the original Dr. Dillamond, will reprise his role and return to the halls of Shiz University.

Sound Off: Music for Bail will present a hybrid program of chamber and orchestral music by leading contemporary and historical Black American composers alongside Yet Unheard, a cantata dedicated to the life and memory of Sandra Bland.

The winners have been announced for the 2022 BroadwayWorld Off-Broadway Awards, honoring the best in off-Broadway shows which had their first performance between October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.
