Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids is spreading holiday cheer with the help of some of their Broadway friends. There's so much to look forward to every December in New York. The tree going up at Rockefeller Center; ice skating in Bryant Park; gorgeous window displays at Macy's and Bloomingdales. For many Broadway fans, the Gypsy of the Year concert and a new Carols for a Cure album mark the start of the holiday season. For me, it really feels like Christmas when I receive my favorite pre-holiday gift: the annual Broadway Cares snow globe. Behold, the 2015 globe:

KINKY BOOTS star Wayne Brady surprised today's audience at BC/EFA's 27th annual GYPSY OF THE YEAR competition with guest rappers Christopher Jackson and Lin-Manuel Miranda from this season's Broadway sensation HAMILTON. The trio showed off their improvisational chops, topping each other in a rap battle based on words provided by the audience, including chicken, sarsaparilla, succubus, tsunami, scaffolding and condom. Brady and KINKY BOOTS took top honors for best onstage presentation. Check it out below!

A huge congrats to BC/EFA, which just announced GYPSY OF THE YEAR's outstanding grand total of $4,786,239 after six weeks of fundraising efforts! Broadway's BOOK OF MORMON brought in the top funds, and KINKY BOOTS took 'Best Presentation' at the event.

Choreographer Ray Mercer, winner of Joffrey Ballet's Choreographers of Color Award, will present Pure Motion (#puremotion), an evening of his dances produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The evening will feature two performances at 7 pm and 8:30 pm on Monday, February 29, 2016, at The Ailey Citigroup Theatre in New York City.

The 27th annual edition of the Gypsy of the Year competition will feature special performances from 14 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows today, December 7 (4:30 PM) and tomorrow, December 8 (2 PM) at the New Amsterdam Theatre (214 West 42nd Street, NYC). Gypsy of the Year (#gypsyoftheyear) celebrates six weeks of intensive fundraising by Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring productions.

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) has announced that its 2015 donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will total $1.65 million dollars, bringing the foundation's total contribution to BC/EFA to $11.65 million since it began eleven years ago. The foundation, which is funded by royalties from the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb's vast catalogue of work, makes an annual donation to BC/EFA.

Both of the gentlemen will each be presented with the Warburg Humanitarian Award for their outstanding philanthropic endeavors on behalf of children, education and the arts, while Ms. Harley will be saluted for her 43 years of leadership and achievement as she steps down as Producer of The Acting Company.
