It's a new month and that means a brand-new batch of shows opening up on the Great White Way.

Playwrights Horizons has announced complete casting for Mankind, the world premiere of a new play written and directed by two-time Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara (Bootycandy, Bella: An American Tall Tale at Playwrights; Barbecue, In the Continuum, The Brother/Sister Plays).

WP Theater, by special arrangement with Segal NYC Productions, presents the Off-Broadway premiere of What We're Up Against, written by Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck (Mauritius, Seminar, NBC's 'Smash'), directed by Adrienne Campbell-Holt (Dry Land, Empathitrax).

Roundabout Theatre Company has just announced its 2017-18 Artists in Residence. 'I started the Artists in Residence program about 25 years ago to provide artistic and financial support to early-career artists, giving them a theatre to call home and to provide peace of mind for a sustainable career,' says Roundabout Artistic Director Todd Haimes. 'Over the years, this program has evolved to include playwrights, mid-career directors and even an entire young company. The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF), the not-for-profit foundation of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC), announces that acclaimed Director Julie Taymor will be honored with the distinguished 2018 Mr. Abbott Award for outstanding artistry and creativity over the course of her career. The Award will be presented at the Foundation's annual gala event on April 2, 2018 in New York City, venue to be announced. Chairing the Mr. Abbott Award Committee are Thomas Schumacher, President & Producer, Disney Theatrical Productions, producer Nelle Nugent of The Foxboro Company (currently represented on Broadway with Taymor's production of M. BUTTERFLY), and SDCF Executive Board Members Rachel Chavkin and Michael Wilson. Honorary Co-Chairs include actress Helen Mirren and playwright David Henry Hwang. Proceeds from the gala benefit the early-career programs of Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation.

The Drama League has announced that Steve Martin has been named as the 2017 Honoree for the organization's 34th Annual Benefit Gala: A Musical Celebration of Broadway.

Winners for the 2017 Chita Rivera Awards were announced just last night at The Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Following the show, guests celebrated at Sardi's and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the festivities!

Adam Rapp's Red Light Winter will be presented in a special one night only event October 29th at 7:30 PM at Henningson & Co. in Downtown Los Angeles. The cast includes Jaclyn Bethany, David Gangel-Guerrero and Vincent Santvoord. The performance will feature a pop-up gallery featuring work from artists around their world, created in response to the text. The evening will be produced by BKE Productions with Yvonne Reddy and production/lighting design by Mollie Wartelle.

Playwright Beau Willimon plans to update the play on a weekly basis to keep up with current political events as well as with President Trump's controversial tweets

Previews begin tonight, September 6, at 8PM for the Playwrights Horizons world premiere production of The Treasurer, a new play by Max Posner (Judy) and directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play is the second production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.
