The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center has announced cast members for the 2013 National Music Theater Conference. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Paulette Haupt, the Conference will run from June 22 to July 12 and will develop three new musicals.
Liz Callaway (Miss Saigon, Baby), Kate Shindle (Legally Blonde, Cabaret), Betsy Wolfe (The Last Five Years, The Mystery of Edwin Drood), F. Michael Haynie (Wicked, Dogfight), Zachary Prince (On A Clear Day…) and Sam Heldt (Junie B. Jones) have joined the lineup of performers for musical theater writer Adam Gwon's upcoming concert at 54 Below tonight April 8, 2013 at 9:30pm. Musical theatre enthusiasts eager for new offerings from bourgeoning songwriters were treated to a smorgasbord of songs at the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop biannual showcase, held November 3 at the Marjorie S Deane Little Theatre in New York. The showcase, presented in association with the Musical Mondays Theatre Lab, featured 14 new songs from a crop of lyricists and composers who are members of the Workshop, deemed 'the Harvard of musical theatre' by the New York Times.
