Colin Hanlon and Jared Zirilli Join Cast of TWILIGHT Benefit Reading, 1/16
A one-night only concert reading presentation of the parody Twilight: The Musical is being presented by Ulmer Theatricals, Moxyrah Productions, and Dreamcatcher Entertainment, January 16th, 2012 at 8pm to benefit the national charity organization Blessings in a Backpack. The concert will be directed by Gabriel Barre (Lippa's The Wild Party, Pippin at Goodspeed), and presented at New World Stages.
Joining previously announced cast members are Colin Hanlon and Jared Zirilli who will play Edward and Jacob respectively. Meghann Fahy will lead the reading as Bella. Also set to star are: Jenna Leigh Green, Jason Michael Snow, Olli Haaskivi, Eddie Gutierrez, Lauren Lopez, Lindsay Dunn, Michael McArthur, Kaitlin Mesh, and Clifton Samuels.
The performers will be backed by Martin Landry (Piano/Asst. Musical Direction), Evan Jay Newman (Keyboard/pads), Madeline Craw Corliss (Cello), Nathan Siler (Guitar), and Tim Lykins (Drums), with Musical Direction by David John Madore.
All net proceeds will benefit Blessings in a Backpack.
Twilight: The Musical, a parody of the Twilight book and movie saga, examines our culture of obsession through the story of teenage outsider Bella Swan who risks everything when she embarks on a star-crossed romance with Vampire Edward Cullen. Song titles include: "Life Sucks When Your Boyfriend Is A Vampire", "Death Never Sounded So Good", and "I Imprinted on an Infant."
Twilight: The Musical was created by Ashley Griffin, and features a book by Ashley Griffin, with music and lyrics by Jeremy Ezell, Ashley Griffin, Sean Mahoney, David Mallamud, and Michael Sutherland. The show had its first workshop in NYC in 2010 at the LABA theater, and is currently in development in NYC.

Blessings in a Backpack (http://www.blessingsinabackpack.org/) is a unique program designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Price Meal program, and have little to no food on the weekends. Better test scores, improved reading skills, positive behavior; improved health and increased attendance have all been attributed to the success of this program. $80 feeds a child in the program for an entire school year.
Blessings in a Backpack is a 501 C (3) non-profit organization currently feeding over 55,000 children in 318 schools in 37 U.S. states and three countries - Canada, Columbia and Haiti.
