The annual Broadway League Awards, honoring excellence and achievement for Touring Broadway, were announced today during the Broadway League's 2013 Spring Road Conference. First presented in 1992, the Broadway League Awards recognize the contributions of those who have displayed exemplary service to the Broadway industry and are considered innovators of their craft.

Last night, Thursday, September 20, legendary Broadway director and 21-time Tony Award winner Harold Prince served as Master of Ceremonies for the the fourth-annual "Broadway Salutes," an industry-wide celebration to honor those who make Broadway great. In this industry-wide celebration, theater professionals received special recognition for having worked 25, 35, and 50+ years in their respective theatrical craft. The event featured performances by Raul Esparza and Leslie Uggams. Kathleen Marshall, Bebe Neuwirth and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn were the afternoon's special guests.

Future productions include several new musicals and plays in development; among these Empire, Viva Forever, Mad Hot Ballroom, and Motown, based on the life of Berry Gordy, Jr.
