The National Opera Studio has announced the appointment of American coach, pianist and conductor Eric Melear as Artistic Director, effective July 2024.

Will Crutchfield’s gutsy Teatro Nuovo brought New Yorkers a chance to evaluate Rossini's MAOMETTO SECONDO the other day at Jazz from Lincoln Center’s Rose Theatre. Kudos to Crutchfield, who continues on his quest for the most authentic of the authentic in bel canto, even when the originals weren’t exactly smash hits to begin with. That includes MAOMETTO, which has had a quite checkered past.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts will welcome the Divaria Productions opera, The Shakespeare Riots, to the Bay Street stage on Saturday, October 8, at 8 p.m. The historical show brings to life one of the bloodiest incidents in New York history, the infamous 1849 Astor Place Riot, and promises audiences a dramatic, enthralling evening unlike any other.

Teatro Nuovo, the innovative young company that brought New York its first opera performances since the pandemic shutdown, today announced its return to full indoor activity in July 2022 with Rossini's towering Maometto Secondo and Bellini's beloved La Sonnambula. The pair of operas will be performed July 9 and 10 at Montclair State University (New Jersey) and July 13 and 14 at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater. 

The little OPERA theatre of ny will present a livestream concert of Monteverdi & Other Treasures from the Seicento on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 7:30pm ET. The production will offer an optional immersive viewing experience by Musae.
