Natalie Portman's VOX LUX to Open Austin Film Festival

Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF), the premier film festival recognizing the writers' contributions to film, television, and new media, announced today that Natalie Portman drama Vox Lux will bow as the Opening Night Film for the fest's 25th Anniversary, running October 25 through November 1. Austin Film Festival's Opening Night Film is presented by Hiscox Insurance.

The Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival (HSDFF), presented by Mountain Valley Spring Water, announced today the official selections for this year's short and feature documentary lineups. This year's festival will include additional categories including U.S., International, Southern Stories, Sports, as well as a spotlight on films Made in Arkansas. Now approaching its 27th year, HSDFF is the longest running all-documentary festival in North America and is Academy Award®-Qualifying in the Documentary Short Subject Category.

The Toronto International Film Festival® today announced two new films that will premiere as part of the Special Presentations programme in September. The World Premiere of Neil Jordan's Greta and the North American Premiere of Brady Corbet's Vox Lux will cap off the Festival's Special Presentations and bring the total for the programme up to 24 titles.

Tony nominated theatre luminary Austin Pendleton directs and adapts a new stage version of Richard III, Shakespeare's greatest villain, in WARS OF THE ROSES: HENRY VI & RICHARD III, which begins performances August 1st at the 124 Bank Street Theatre. The play combines texts from William Shakespeare's Henry VI Part 3 and Richard III, to create a version, which has never been seen before. Produced by Ruth Stage, the production stars Pendleton as Henry VI and Matt de Rogatis as Richard III, while giving a fascinating take on one of history's most notorious villains. The opening is set for Saturday, August 4th at 7PM. WARS OF THE ROSES: HENRY VI & RICHARD III will play a limited engagement through August 19th. Stephen Dorff To Headline Embattled From Writer David McKenna

Blitz Films and Straight Up Films announce that Stephen Dorff (“True Detective,” BLADE) has been signed to star in director Nick Sarkisov's English-language debut EMBATTLED. Written by David McKenna (AMERICAN HISTORY X, GET CARTER, BLOW), the film also includes McKenna's son, Colin, who was born with Williams Syndrome and inspired a supporting role for the film. Sarkisov is set to produce for Blitz Films, alongside Kate Cohen for Straight Up Films, and Scott LaStaiti, with Blitz co-founder Sergey Sarkisov and Dorff serving as executive producers. Eryl Cochran from Blitz Films will oversee production. The film is scheduled to shoot in Alabama this September.

Usdan Summer Camp for the Arts, the critically acclaimed summer day camp for the arts celebrating its 50th anniversary in summer 2018, today welcomed back campers ages 4 through 12. Nearly 1600 campers -one of whom is Brianna Perez, the star of the Oscar nominated film, Joe's Violin-stepped off the bus and into studios, with classes in everything from theater to studio art; photography and music to Quidditch and swim. A few years ago BICK/ANTZIS created a YouTube video called Settle This Thing in order to have the Internet provide a solution to an ongoing argument they couldn't resolve on their own. Tamara Bick and Drew Antzis each laid out their argument and told viewers, "Vote for who you agree with and we'll live with the results." After a week the married couple tallied the votes and had a winner. Argument solved! "It's crowd sourcing to solve our fights," says Antzis, "and it worked!" The web series Settle This Thing was born.

IFC Films is excited to present EATING ANIMALS – a film by Christopher Quinn (God Grew Tired of Us, 21 Up America). Produced and narrated by Natalie Portman, the film explores the economic, environmental, and health impacts of factory farming and its effects on small farmers, consumers, and animals. EATING ANIMALS is tentatively slated for an early July release in Houston.

Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill directed by Jarvis Antonio Green (JAG Productions: Choir Boy, Fences, JAGfest), will run from May 24th-May 27th at the Engine Room in White River Junction, May 31st-June 3rd at The Grange Theater in Pomfret and June 7-10 at Main Street Landing's Black Box Theater in Burlington, VT.
