Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis announced the line-up today for The Public's 2011-2012 Season. The 56th Season will feature new works by Mike Daisey, Nathan Englander, David Henry Hwang, Richard Nelson, and Stew and Heidi Rodewald, as well as the premiere of FEBRUARY HOUSE, a new musical by Gabriel Kahane and Seth Bockley that is the first commission of The Public's Musical Theater Initiative.

I like a theater of ideas as much as the next reviewer, but found that, in this somewhat trackless waste of a play, the ideas were either inarticulately expressed, trite, or both. The Strand Theater Company, dedicated to providing opportunities for female artists, writers, designers and directors, certainly fills a need. I only wish I could recommend this offering.

The Boston College Theatre Department is happy to announce the second and final student?directed Workshop production of the 2010?2011 season: Naomi Wallace's The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek directed by senior theater major Libby McKnight '11. The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize has announced Katori Hall as the winner of its prestigious playwriting award, now celebrating its thirty-third year. The Houston-based Prize received the 2010 Theatre Communications Group's National Funder Award. The annual honor goes to a company, foundation or other entity for 'leadership and sustained national support of theater in America.

Snow Falling on Cedars, the acclaimed best-selling novel by David Guterson, comes to life this winter at Hartford Stage in a fresh adaptation by Kevin McKeon.
