Eleven schools were selected as a Main Stage show for the 2020 International Thespian Festival, an honor achieved by only 11 high school productions in the nation. The invitations are based on productions that were adjudicated last fall and winter.

a??a??a??a??a??a??a??Jemicy School's International Thespian Society Troupe #8269 was named state champion at the Maryland State Thespian Festival at Towson University Jan. 10-11. Jemicy School thespians will now represent Maryland by performing their award-winning One Act on the Chapter Select Stage at the International Thespian Festival June 22-27 at Indiana University Bloomington.

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's Mary Poppins JR. will be playing at Roswell Cultural Arts Center from Friday, May 10 through Saturday, May 11. The "practically perfect" 70-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the classic P.L. Travers stories and the Walt Disney film. The Roswell Youth Theatre cast includes 30 students led by Leslie Kelley, Jane Hendrix, and Nancy Whitehead Brown.

The second annual spectacular evening of wonderful entertainment by Broadway's brightest singing the wonderful standards and hits sung by the late, great Nancy Lamott on the 21st anniversary of her death, to benefit the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, took place on Monday, October 24, at 6 PM at the Copacabana in New York City. Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) launched the public phase of the JUST IMAGINE Where Dreams Take Center Stage campaign on Wednesday, October 19th with a kickoff event announcing the lead gift of $4,000,000 from Margaret Alkek Williams to name the Margaret Alkek Williams Center for Arts and Education.

This fall Sol Children Theatre of Boca Raton will partner with the Karen Slattery Educational Research Center for Child Development to offer students classes in Creative Drama and Movement and Musical Theatre Performance Experience. The Center, located on the Boca Raton campus of Florida Atlantic University is affiliated with the College of Education.

The exceptional and little-known works of wearable sculpture presented this fall in Picasso to Koons: Artist as Jeweler will reward viewers with new insights into the creative wellsprings of such artistic giants as Georges Braque, Max Ernst, Lucio Fontana, Louise Nevelson, Anthony Caro, Yoko Ono, and Anish Kapoor. Organized by the Museum of Arts and Design, in collaboration with guest curator Diane Venet, Picasso to Koons opens on September 20, 2011 and runs through January 8, 2012.
