Tonight, The 24 Hour Plays: Viral Monologues celebrates its milestone tenth edition.

Actor-Singer, and American Theatre newcomer, Alaina Kai Chester ('Little Bunny Foo Foo', 'You Across From Me'), recently released her EP, 'First Comes Love, Then Comes Liberty', on what would have been the closing of the 44th Humana Festival of New American Plays (April 12th, 2020). Alaina was set to play the lead, 'Starra Jones', in the production of 'Flex', by Candrice Jones -- a production that never opened and went unseen in the festival, due to Covid-19.

Michael Urie, Celia Keenan-Bolger, James Monroe Iglehart will appear in upcoming Play Per-View readings and events.

Gingold Theatrical Group continued the 15th Season of Project Shaw, a special series of evenings of plays that embrace human rights and free speech, with What Every Woman Knows by James M. Barrie for one night only on Monday February 24th (7pm).

The New Group presents Donja R. Love's one in two, featuring Jamyl Dobson, Leland Fowler and Edward Mawere. Directed by Stevie Walker-Webb, one in two just opened last night, December 10. A limited Off-Broadway engagement is slated through January 12 at The Pershing Square Signature Center (The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre, 480 West 42nd Street).

Presented at the Pershing Square Signature Center, the evening will feature performances by Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub (The Band's Visit, 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' 'Monk'), Lucille Lortel Award winner Mirirai Sithole (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, 'Russian Doll,' 'Broad City'), and Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen (Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Playing on Air's Wildwood Park) in short plays by MacArthur 'Genius Grant' winner Dominique Morisseau (Ain't Too Proud-The Life and Times of the Temptations, The Detroit Projects), and Amanda Quaid. Tony-nominated actor and Playing on Air artistic associate Steven Boyer will once again host the annual fête and star in Jason Gray Platt's HUMAN RESOURCES.

Westport Country Playhouse's New Works Initiative continues its 2019 season with readings of a?oeThe Splittinga?? by Serena Berman, directed by Jake Beckhard, in July, and a?oeStarter Pistol,a?? written by Michael Gotch and directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director, in August. 

This week, The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture (18 Bleecker Street, at the corner of Elizabeth Street, NYC) launches its third annual Sheen Center Theater Festival. 

The Dennis & Victoria Ross Foundation (DVRF) will present an industry reading of Amy Gijsbers van Wijk's DIRTY DIRTY as part of the 2019 DVRF Playwrights Program.  The reading stars Tina Benko (Nantucket Sleigh Ride), Andrew Durand (Ink, Head Over Heels), Kyle Beltran (Blue Ridge), Mirirai Sithole (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play), and Fig Chilcott (La MaMa's The Last Days of Judas Iscariot). The reading is directed by Sarah Krohn (WP's Veil'd).

Pioneer Theatre Company rounds out the sixth season of Play-by-Play's New Play Reading Series with The Way North by playwright, Tira Palmquist. The readings will take place at the Babcock Theatre in the lower level of the Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre on Friday, April 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Stewart (Broadway, National Tour, and Regional: The Color Purple) will play The Voice of the River in the world premiere production of Tori Sampson's If Pretty Hurts Ugly Must Be a Muhf**ka, directed by Obie winner Leah C. Gardiner (Born Bad) and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly. Performances begin Today, February 15, and continue through March 31 in the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). The production opens officially on the evening of Sunday, March 10.
