Alaina Kai Chester Releases FIRST COMES LOVE, THEN COMES LIBERTY EP

Actor-Singer, and American Theatre newcomer, Alaina Kai Chester ('Little Bunny Foo Foo', 'You Across From Me'), recently released her EP, 'First Comes Love, Then Comes Liberty', on what would have been the closing of the 44th Humana Festival of New American Plays (April 12th, 2020). Alaina was set to play the lead, 'Starra Jones', in the production of 'Flex', by Candrice Jones -- a production that never opened and went unseen in the festival, due to Covid-19.

Playing on Air has announced preliminary casting for its star-studded live recording and benefit on Monday, November 18th. Presented at the Pershing Square Signature Center, the evening will feature performances by Tony, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Tony Shalhoub (The Band's Visit, 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' 'Monk'), Lucille Lortel Award winner Mirirai Sithole (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, 'Russian Doll,' 'Broad City'), and Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen (Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Playing on Air's Wildwood Park) in short plays by MacArthur 'Genius Grant' winner Dominique Morisseau (Ain't Too Proud-The Life and Times of the Temptations, The Detroit Projects), and Amanda Quaid. Tony-nominated actor and Playing on Air artistic associate Steven Boyer will once again host the annual fête and star in Jason Gray Platt's HUMAN RESOURCES.

Stewart (Broadway, National Tour, and Regional: The Color Purple) will play The Voice of the River in the world premiere production of Tori Sampson's If Pretty Hurts Ugly Must Be a Muhf**ka, directed by Obie winner Leah C. Gardiner (Born Bad) and choreographed by Raja Feather Kelly. Performances begin Today, February 15, and continue through March 31 in the Mainstage Theater at Playwrights Horizons (416 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). The production opens officially on the evening of Sunday, March 10.

Award-winning artists and activists are joining forces to bring the #MeToo movement to the stage. Inspired by the women who have come forward with personal accounts of President Donald Trump's sexual harassment and assaults, "The Pussy Grabber Plays" will premiere Monday, January 14 at 9:30 p.m. at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. An acclaimed, all-female production team will make the play available royalty-free to theaters, community groups and colleges across the country, creating a new platform for survivors of sexual abuse.
