This summer the Bronx Music Heritage Center (BMHC) will present a series of music performances, a film screening, and moderated conversations exploring the many Congolese influences in Caribbean music and dance.

The Bush Theatre has announced full details of its two summer productions presented by Bush Young Company.  Pass It On, devised by the Bush Young Company and Katie Greenall runs 11 & 12 August and As We Face The Sun a new play written by Kit Withington and directed by the Bush Theatre's Artistic Director Lynette Linton and Young Company Director Katie Greenall runs 22 - 26 August with a press night on 23 August.

Closing the 2022 – 2023 Season at Metropolis is the cult movie classic turned musical comedy Xanadu. Kevin Wiczer directs the glitter explosion with choreography by Kristine Burdi and musical direction by Kenneth McMullen. 

Rock & Roll Man, starring Tony Award-nominee Constantine Maroulis and Emmy Award-winner Joe Pantoliano, celebrates the life of the trailblazing DJ Alan Freed. The new musical opens tonight at New World Stages.

The world premiere of a funked-up remix of Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice in Wonderland, adapted by Stockroom, opens at the Liverpool Playhouse on 4 July (press night 6 July) before transferring to the Theatre Royal Plymouth from 1 to 5 August. 

The resilient Transcendence Theatre was not deterred when litigation between the California Park Rangers Association and the California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks) threatened use of their usual performance space at Jack London State Historic Park.  After performing for over a decade in those magical ruins, Transcendence was forced to secure a new temporary home while the remaining litigation details were worked out by the park.  Thankfully, the nonprofit ranch property, Belos Cavalos, came through at the last minute to offer their 30+ acre Kenwood estate as host of Broadway Under the Stars’ eight musical performances.  After much labor-intensive work to groom the land, the space was finally transformed into an acceptable and beautiful outdoor theatre. Artistic Director Amy Miller spoke fondly of Belos Cavalos’s founder Dr. Charyln Belluzzo when she humbly proclaimed on opening night, “Theater’s about community and connection and she saved us!”

Theatre Tuscaloosa's Launch Day (Love Stories from the Year 2108) by Michael Higgins brought home two national awards from the American Association of Community Theatre national festival (AACTFest) in Louisville, Kentucky on June 17, 2023.

The critically-acclaimed production of Lizard Boy, currently playing Off-Broadway at Theatre Row, will record a Live Cast Album, with a release date to be announced later this year.

Three performances of Martyna Majok's critically acclaimed play Ironbound have been set to run at the Broadwater Second Stage in Hollywood Friday through Sunday, July 14, 15, and 16. Directed by Susan Leslie, the cast will feature (in alphabetical order) Matt Bushell, Shea Depmore, Isaiah Frazilus, and Daniel Shawn Miller. Net proceeds will benefit WomenShelter of Long Beach.

AGBO and Slamdance announced a partnership for a multi-faceted showcase including digital, interactive and gaming work, stand-up comedy, screenplay workshops, award-winning short films, and a program dedicated to filmmakers with visible and non-visible disabilities at AGBO’s Los Angeles campus.  

Write Out Loud has received a grant of $20,000 to host the National Endowment for the Arts Big Read in San Diego. Write Out Loud is one of 62 nonprofit organizations in the US selected to receive an NEA Big Read grant to support a community reading program.
