Music Theatre Wichita has begun its 2019 Season with a brand new production of The Sound of Music, starring Broadway artists Catherine Charlebois (Wicked), Mike McGowan (Mormon, Priscilla), and Katie Banks-Todd (Phantom), along with Jennifer Byrne (The Evil Dead) and Monte Riegel Wheeler (The "It" Girl) leading a 52-member cast. The production was created with new scenic designs by Adam Koch, enhanced with Alpine backdrops by XuZheng He, choreography by Brian J. Marcum (Elf - The Musica), and a 29-piece orchestra conducted by Thomas W. Douglas. 

Opening Night. There's nothing like it in the world. Jitters can occur. Mistakes could happen. One hopes everything comes together and the rehearsal time and hard work has paid off. Luckily, for Music Theatre Wichita's producing artistic director Wayne Bryan, opening night was nothing short of absolute shear success for his season opener “The Sound of Music.” Music Theatre Wichita is in its 48th year.

Shortly after midnight, on Christmas Day of 1914, a German soldier whose name is now lost to history committed what might be the most subversive act in all of modern warfare.  He walked, unarmed, out of the front line trenches and into the middle of No Man's Land, faced the enemy British soldiers before him and, in his native tongue, began singing 'Silent Night.'

Laura Little Theatricals and Theater Latte Da present the American premiere production of the off-Broadway premiere of the new musical All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914, now playing off-Broadway at the Sheen Center for Thought & Culturein a limited holiday engagement through December 30. Performances are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30PM; Sunday at 7pPM; Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday at 2PM. (Exceptions: There are no performances on Sunday, December 9 at 2PM or Sunday, December 23 at 7PM; there is an additional performance on Monday, December 24 at 2PM.)

A Newer World, an original musical based on the Harvard Scandal of 1920, with a book by Grammy Award nominee Jonathan Sheffer, and score by Sheffer and acclaimed producer and songwriter Bruce Roberts [Barbra Streisand/Donna Summer duet 'No More Tears (Enough is Enough)'], will have an invitation-only reading on Thursday, December 6 at Pearl Studios, 500 8th Avenue. With direction by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots, Pretty Woman), the reading will feature musical direction by Will Van Dyke (Pretty Woman).

On Sunday, November 11, the cast and creative team  All Is Calm honored the 100th anniversary of the armistice with a reading of an excerpt from "For the Fallen,' a poem by Robert Laurence Binyon, first published in The London Times on September 21st, 1914 and a singing of "Silent Night.'

The Cape Playhouse very proudly presents, South Pacific, the award winning Broadway musical. FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Alice Ripley, Emily Skinner, Josh Young, Emily Padgett, Nick Adams, The Skivvies and many more in a concert of Elegies For Angels, Punks And Raging Queens on Thursday, January 18 at 7:00 and 9:30. With book and lyrics by Bill Russell, who will also host and music by Janet Hood, who will serve as Musical Director, Elegies ... was inspired by personal stories of those affected by HIV/AIDS and has been performed around the world. The score features such songs as My Brother Lived in San Francisco, And the Rain Keeps Falling Down and Learning To Let Go.
