For one weekend only in March, an all-star ensemble of singers and rock musicians are joining forces to present Andrew Lloyd Webber's 70's rock-infused retelling of Jesus Christ's final week. MILWAUKEE, WIS. 11/12/2013 – The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra announces a variety of holiday performances for the 2013 season. The holiday performances kick off with Canadian Brass Holiday on December 4, 2013, performing holiday songs in their signature style, led by Associate Conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong. On December 6-8, 2013, Holiday Pops Spectacular takes the stage with guest conductor Stuart Chafetz, vocalist Mike Eldred, Milwaukee Symphony Chorus, Milwaukee Children's Choir, Milwaukee Youth Chorale, and Milwaukee Handbell Ensemble in a performance filled with seasonal favorites, sing-alongs, and holiday tunes.

Steven Reineke's inaugural year as the new Principal Pops Conductor with the Toronto Symphony continues this week with Love Will Keep Us Together. An evening of all the best love songs from across the ages, the show promises to be glowing, glittering and above all, fun. Joining him are Tenor Mike Eldred and Soprano Betsy Wolfe, who just wrapped an exciting run in The Mystery of Edwin Drood on Broadway. She spoke to BWW about her musical influences, the concert, working with Steven and more.

On Thursday, March 1, Sophia Salveson-at 19, a college student (at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago) and an aspiring actress-suffered a massive stroke that left her with little to no movement on the right side of her body and major damage to the speech and comprehension center of her brain. Taking her family and friends completely unawares, Salveson's sudden and unexpected medical dilemma sent feelings of shock, dismay and disbelief throughout the country, with its reverberations felt most resoundingly in her hometown of Nashville, where word quickly spread around town and among members of the city's music and theater communities that she had been stricken.

Mike Eldred, renowned vocalist known for his appearances on Broadway as "Jean Valjean" in Les Miserables, his performance as "Tony" in the Nashville Symphony's recording of West Side Story on NAXOS Records, and starring in the national touring production of The Civil War, has been invited by Desmond Child and Marcus Hummon to star in their fundraiser production of Broadway Babies! The Broadway Songbooks of Desmond Child & Marcus Hummon in Nashville on April 11th. The sold-out evening will benefit Thistle Farms, a social enterprise run by women who have survived prostitution, trafficking, addiction, and life on the streets. The production also features Kim Bretton, Nick Duckart, Tabitha Fair, Michelle Nicolo Prentice and Chris Roberts.
