HAIRSPRAY, Broadway’s Tony Award®-winning musical comedy phenomenon, went on sale September 16, 2022 at 10 AM. This new North American tour, helmed by original director Jack O’Brien and original choreographer Jerry Mitchell, will play Friday, November 4 – Saturday, November 5, 2022 in Kalamazoo at Miller Auditorium.

This new North American tour, helmed by original director Jack O'Brien and original choreographer Jerry Mitchell, will play November 8-13 in Columbus at the Ohio Theatre, presented by CAPA and PNC Broadway in Columbus. 

The HAIRSPRAY North American tour, helmed by Jack O'Brien and Jerry Mitchell, will kick off at The Carson Center in Paducah, KY, prior to visiting more than 55 cities in its second touring season. Get a first look inside rehearsals here!

Returning cast members Andrew Levitt aka Nina West (from “RuPaul's Drag Race”) as Edna Turnblad, Niki Metcalf as Tracy Turnblad, Sandie Lee as Motormouth Maybelle, Billy Dawson as Corny Collins, Ryahn Evers as Amber Von Tussle, Addison Garner as Velma Von Tussle, and Emery Henderson as Penny Pingleton will be joined by new principal cast members Charlie Bryant III as Seaweed J. Stubbs, Ralph Prentice Daniel as Wilbur Turnblad, Brayden Krikke as Link Larkin and Joi D. McCoy as Little Inez.

Former MSMT intern Mickey White (2017) leads The Washington St. Carolers – a 'door to door' professional A Cappella ensemble who sing traditional Carols dressed in beautiful traditional 'caroler' attire, all while supporting unemployed performers.

On July 18, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. the Kingston Collection Parking lot in Kingston, Massachusetts, will be transformed into an outdoor concert venue to showcase a live cabaret performance by top-tier New York City based actors, who will perform a repertoire of magical songs from beloved fantasy and fairytale classics. The gala evening, which also includes music by live bands, projections and sound and light effects, as well as food trucks and wine-beer beverage carts, offers fun for the entire family. The proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to The Actors Fund, which assists unemployed actors, and Inclusion Media Group, which promotes diversity in the arts through social media.

Opening Night is Saturday evening, March 14, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. Cabaret is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).

Maine State Music Theatre closes out its 2017 season with the New England Regional Premier of the all-singing, all-dancing, high-energy show, Disney's Newsies. Featuring a score by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, Newsies runs from August 9 - 26. A matinee performance has been added on August 19 at 2 PM.

Maine State Music Theatre presented two sold-out performances of The Who's Tommy, the rock musical by Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff, on July 31, 2017, at Brunswick's Pickard Theater.

Midway through the first act of The Who's Tommy, the young protagonist invites his mates and listeners to ride together on his amazing journey. And truly, Maine State Music Theatre's production of the Pete Townshend/DesMcAnuff musical, seen for two performances only at the Pickard Theater July 31 offers its audience just that - a riveting, often raw, perennially relevant, piercingly beautiful account of a boy's painful but ultimately uplifting journey through the darker side of human experience and into the light. The rarely staged 1992 musical version based on the 1969 concept album and rock opera with its sung-through score, narrative told largely in dance, and its sometimes disturbing material poses significant challenges to any company, but MSMT once again proves its artistic mettle. Under the inspired direction of Curt Dale Clark, with the complex choreography of Raymond Marc Dumont and the rousing musical direction of Patrick Fanning, this company of young artists marshals its considerable talents to tackle the ambitious project with energy, passion, and complete professionalism.
